Using a Keyboard that doesn't respond to midi focus

    Hi there,

i seem to have a very special issue and i am wondering if i'm just to dumb to solve it myself or maybe maschine just isnt capable of doing it.

I've got Maschine MK1, Maschine Jam and a Novation Impulse Keyboard in my setup. I now added another keyboard in order to directly play instruments that are not focussed. While this first step works, the second keyboard also plays the instrument that is in focus, no matter the midi channel settings. So my question is: Is there any way to make that stop, so that keyboard 1 plays the focus and keyboard 2 JUST the assigned instrument (and nothing else)?

    Thanks a lot.

    Nico

Check the preferences/ general I think , turn off default midi focus , then set what track you want focus to work on manually

That doesn't really solve it for me. If i put the midi source of a instrument on focus, the second keyboard still plays the focussed instrument and while choosing the first keyboard as sole source instead would be an ok workaround in a studio environment, i cant see me doing this live, which is what i do with MASCHINE, because its way too slow to deselect the midi source once i'm done with one instrument and setting it up on the next one.

hmm. yeah, i see the same issue.
    Group A, Sound 1, Midi source=Default (focus), channel 1
Group B, Sound 1, Midi source=Keyboard 2, channel 2 (keyboard 2 is set to transmit on channel 2)

My expectation would be that with Group A selected, Keyboard 2 would only play Sound B:1 (Since Sound A:1 is supposed to be listening to channel 1 only). However, Keyboard 2 will play both sounds in this case. Seems like a bug?

"All" mode (on sound A:1) respects the channel filter, but then it will play even if you have 3rd sound selected.

My only workaround suggestion is not to use Maschine track switching & focus mode to change what you're playing, and instead set everything up to use specific midi channels, and switch midi channel on your midi controller instead (Depending on your controller, this may or may not be practical)

Yes you have to set your keyboards to different MIDI channels or use a virtual MIDI network outside of Maschine
