I just purchased an AK1 to use with Traktor and as far as the audio capabilities, it's great, but I can't figure out how to make it for to control Traktor. I have the very newest update of Traktor, the newest firmware and driver for the AK1 and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

Everything I've read seems to say that I just need to have the AK1 activated in the MIDI preferences in Traktor, then have the AK1 mapping program open and choose a scheme from the dropdown and all should work. I really think I'm missing something in all the manuals, tutorials, videos, etc., that I've seen. The buttons and knob light up as long as the mapping program is open, but none of the mappings are affecting anything in Traktor.

    Any ideas/help/etc? (Maybe I have a lemon??)

    Thanks!

do not quit the ak1 program.
i'm not sure about mac, but in windows you must run the programm at all time (usually minimized to taskbar) to use the midi functionality.

I have it running all the time, and the AK1 program lights up corresponding to the buttons I press, but nothing happens in Traktor. I'm sure I've just missed something, but...

Did you try manually assigning the controls in traktor's setup interface?

I did and it "kind of" worked...mostly because I just quickly assigned something to see if it was actually sending/receiving MIDI data at all.

I did finally figure it out, though. There's something pretty big missing from the manual, which is what I finally figured out: you have to manually load the *.tks file within Traktor. I haven't found anywhere that this is specifically mentioned, hence my confusion.

It's a pretty cool piece, but in the end I need to have more controllers, so I'll be returning it. The audio sounds great, the routing is nice as is the headphone amp, but the controller itself is too limited. It's a shame that NI doesn't make a dedicated control surface with audio for their own software.
