I'm thinking of getting the new chord generator pluggin Cthulhu and was wondering how to get it to work with Maschine. The way it works is to route the midi from the channel with Cthulhu in to an instrument channel. You can see how it's done in Ableton in this video.

How would you go about setting this up in Maschine? Is it even possible?

If you are on Mac it should be possible using the au version and the IAC bus and setting it up similarly to how a Logic user would. I don't think there is an option for Windows users but maybe email the developer over at www.xferrecords.com to check.

Was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this? Been watching some vids of it and would love to use this with Maschine. Does anyone have it working correctly on a mac with Maschine standalone?

    :)

Maschine can't send midi from a plugin. On PC you could load up Mux (in Maschine) and use that to host & route from Cthulhu to your synth. I don't own either so I haven't tried it.

    Cthulhu looks very useful.

Not possible, i have to load Cthulhu in FL and record the chords into Maschine using Patcher. works quite well using host transport control. Someone suggested running Cthulhu in savihost and using a virtual midi cable but i haven't tried it yet. Great plugin anyway but there's always tonespace if you just want chords.

Does Tonespace also have the same issues as Cthulhu if I wanted to use Maschine in standalone do you know? I'll look into this. :)

No cause you can choose the midi ports within tonespace, that's the only reason it can work in maschine, their other plugins work as well. :)

Anyway found out about tonespace from maschinetutorials, they have a lot of good tuts on routing and workarounds that i wasn't aware of. You have to use a virtual midi cable to do it but once set up you can save it as a group, excellent little plugin anyway, check the tutorial videos if you haven't already. http://www.mucoder.net/en/tonespace/

I figured out a workaround for using Cthulhu VST with Maschine using MuLab as a host.
Just uploaded a semi tutorial for my Maschine brethren if any one is interested check it out

I use it WITH machine in 2 ways first is with Maschine as a plugin.. so its not actually using it IN maschine but rather just sending the midi information over to maschine where it can be recorded into maschines sequencer..

I use ableton, so in abelton I just set up an extra midi track drop Cthulhu onto it and then send the midi info on over to the maschine track and push record on maschine and there you go …

The way I am able to use it directly IN machine is to load up Kore 2 load Cthulhu on a source chan. and then load up my desired VST inside kore 2 also and then you can actually record into maschine's sequencer but it will only record the single note you are actually pressing on the midi keyboard or just draw in single notes in the sequencer..

hope it makes sense to you works for me though..

I use Cthulu with Mulab's MUX which is really great.

This feature needs to be baked into Maschine because it just has pads and chords are a pain to play.

If you're just wanting to play chords without learning them then why not just use the chord option in Kontakt Player?
