Is it possible to use FinalScratch timecode without the ScratchAmp in Traktor 3? I know this is possible using 3rd party software called DjDecks, but is it in Traktor? I'm interested in going vinyl, but being a poor college student, and the nearest record shop being 5 hours away (I live in Iceland :), I need some alternative... without spending 600$ on FinalScratch

    1. Is it the hardware unit (ScratchAmp) the decodes the analog timecode signal or is it done in Traktor (software)?

    2. Is the timecode signal audible sound?? If so, do you know where I can get a sample of it for experimenting??

    3. Can Traktor 3 use FS timecode to control the decks without a ScratchAmp present?

If someone could get me a sample of the timecode track that would be great, I'd only need like a 15 second sample (that is, if it is actually audible sound).

btw. I know I'd have to preamplify the phono signal or get a player with Line outputs...

I honestly couldnt see how you could do it. I remember my brother talking about an external soundcard with 2 inputs and outputs and using FS but I wouldnt be able to help sorry mate.

Just out of interest how could it be possible to link the decks to the PC without an external sound card or a FS scratch amp?

If you get it going Id be really glad to hear how it works.

You need a soundcard with 4 inputs (2 stereo inputs). Connect the Turntables to a preamp, preamp to line ins on soundcard and then the software can read the timecode and control the decks with that. There are several programs out there that do this (MixVibes for example), but I'd prefer using Traktor since that's what I'm most comfortable with.
