    Long story short:

Loving guitar rig, sold almost everything. (Love my whammy and wah!) Wondering what to use to monitor live, like at a place where I won't have a dedicated monitor feed or practicing with friends without a pa. I am thinking 2 Mackie SRM powered speakers or a power amp with some floor wedges. Trying to stay as small and less complicated as possible. (Wasn't that the point of going to a laptop?) I read some previous threads but thought this would be a good overall topic to work on.

The mackies are good -- I use JBL eons when I gig, but I also have a Walter Woods that I use as well.

    Which Eon's

What size eon's do you use that 10's or the 12's and are they the eon g2's (or whatever ) or the older ones. Also do you get realistic feedback when using this setup. There is something I love about that feedback that hits you when you switch to a higher gain setting, right before you play a chord. Thanks for the input.

I can get feedback from desktop speakers! They are the 10 G2.

You can get feedback from headphones as well; just drape them around your neck instead of putting them over your ears and crank the levels up...

Getting feedback won't be any problem; trust me. I'd lean towards 10s like Marc has for the simple reason that you're lifting yourself out of the frequencies hogged by basses and keyboards. 10s to my ears have more punch to them because they aren't fighting for frequency space with the bass instruments quite as much.
