I'd like to 'play' from my cue points using a MIDI controller (e.g. 16 drum pads).

I've worked out how to map these pads to the Hot Cue buttons but can I map to the remaining 9 - 32 Stored Cue Points?

Can't seem to do it in the controller mapping panel...

    Thanks,

    Al

But you can store 32 points per track right?

Is there no way to MIDI map to 9-32, even though they don't appear on the Hot Cues?

I think the number is even larger than that; I recently stored 34 cues for a mixtape, and they all worked without a glitch (when selecting from the cuepoints dropdown). I must admit that I was a bit hesitant to store any more, so I didn't attempt to test the limits - I only did as many as I needed.

I tried a few different types of mappings, but the best I could come up with was to assign buttons for selecting the next/prev cuepoint, but this was far from ideal. Nowhere near as useable as the mapping for cuepoints 1-8.

I have seen some videos where people have mapped (for example) all the buttons on a midifighter or similar controller, but I'm assuming that they are simply using the accessible cuepoints from different decks.

Unless someone has a better suggestion for mapping, I'm currently assuming that we are missing an absolute "jump to cuepoint #" from the controller mappings...

what you can do to trigger a cue point again and again (in absence of a better solution) - is:
do as adviced, map next and previous to a pad. then, while deck not playing, select "next" as many times as needed, to get to the one you want.
play the track and hit "previous" to trigger the cuepoint.
by triggering previous again and again, you always jump back to the last one, that way you can use at least one at a time.
    not very comfortable, but ...

    @ DiscoNova, milesahead

Thanks for the ideas, really appreciated - will try the step through method now.

Just don't really understand why Tracktor gives you 32 cue points, the majority of which can't be triggered on the fly...

I've got another quite advanced question about changing the play behaviour of Hot Cues, will post a new thread.

I really hope NI is rethinking the whole hotcue situation for the next update. It would be trivial to have 32 hotcues rather than 8 hotcues and 24, um, coldcues? It's true they don't seem to serve much purpose. Then you sometimes have to use 2 cue points on top of one another - load point and beatmarker for instance - so you wind up wasting a slot. (you actually can use cuepoints 9-32 to save hotcues in such situations, but it's a huge pain). I'd like to see functions like load, mix-out cue point, beatmarker, etc - separated from the actual hotcueing. This would be really helpful for those of us using cues to mark parts of a track (e.g. beginning of chorus).

This should be a feature request. Just because you can only see 8 cuepouints on the deck giu is no reason not to be able to select any of them directly by MIDI/keyboard.

What I'd actually like to see is hotcue 'hotswapping'. You'd be able to set transport, grid, and cue point juggle cues on seperate pages, and be able to select a page and hide the others depending on what you were doing. Then you could use the same hotcue buttons for all pages.

I too would like to map ALL available cues/loops to my controllers as easily as possible (as with hotcues 1-8) please! :) why there is only 8 hotcues is really a pointless limitation, so i hope they add this functionality very soon!
