I can't figure out how to import my own samples into the Traktor library...

I've changed the path of the 'sample dir' in Preferences/File Management to location of my sample files, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

The only samples I can see listed in the browser are the bundled ones, regardless of where I point the 'sample dir' setting.

There is no menu for importing samples, only importing the music directory.

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

i did not try (but read elsewhere about it) that simply setting the directory doesnt make a track a sample in traktor and you may have to change their status from track to sample manually. but i'm investigating if there's not an easier way.

    OK thanks.

It seems pointless to have an option to set a sample directory if Traktor doesn't use that setting in some way.

There should be an 'import as samples' option. Setting of whether it's a 'one shot' or loop could be done automatically too, based on length.

So samples under X seconds get marked as 'one shots', and samples longer than X seconds get marked as loops. X should adjustable in preferences.

Any odd ones that don't fit the rule can then be changed manually.

perhaps you just import them to the remix deck and save them as remix set?

Yeah, I wish that the samples directory setting works the way you hoped it did, like an alternative music folder location for just samples and not tracks.

What worked for me is in the browser, using the "explorer" folder (the one that looks through your actual hard drive, not your collection) navigating to the folder with the samples in it, selecting all of them, and saying either import as sample or import as loop. That then puts them in your "all samples" list.
