    Hi All,

Is it possible to use STEMS without a NI branded controller?
I have seen people mention using the lpd8, which i have one of, but that you cant see the nice waveforms as we see advertised on the S8 for example. Is this the case? I would have thought that the deck layout should change on my laptop?

The stem waveform split is only visible on the D2 and the S8. Not on the GUI of traktor for now, maybe this will change in the future but i imagine that its also a selling point for those 2 controllers.

This guy explains it all, i work with a apc40 & it works perfect tbh.

Working on mapping the VU meters visualisation (LED control option, i'll keep you posted)

    Thanks for the info.

Disappointing about the waveform split but Itake your popint about selling points. I would have thought that for a controller that is £££ it would have more to offer than a nice wave split, or at least that a wave split would be offered to all as it seems some what of a small thing.

Fingers crossed for it opening up in the future. I cant seeit takiing off it can only be used, in all its glory, by those that buy NI hardware.

That Video of DJTechtools was made somewhere in may when Traktor with stem support was still in beta or perhaps alfa fase.
In Traktor pro 2.9.0 there is no way to map the stems deck. I have tried and searched but can not find it.
Even with a stems file loaded there is no way to map the stems deck, I guess N.I. left that out in the final release.
Perhaps in future releases it will be available ? Or perhaps not at all so they can sell the S8 and D2.

Are you sure? I need to check for sure myself but the description in the release notes is below:

Stem and Remix Deck Sub-mix Controls in Controller Manager
The sub-mix controls for the Remix Deck have now been upgraded to Deck Common controls in the Controller Manager. Controls like Slot Volume, Slot Filter, Slot Mute, and Slot FX Send Amount are now located in “Deck Common > Sub-Mix”.

When mapping a MIDI Controller to these controls, these controls will now control a Stem Deck or Remix Deck, whichever type is loaded. If you had MIDI Mappings for Remix Deck mix controls previous to this update, those controls are now automatically mapped to the Deck Common Sub-mix controls for convenience.

    Stem file management in Browser
To support management of .stem.mp4 files, a new smart folder called “All Stems” is added to the Browser Tree. All Stem files in the Track Collection can be found quickly by clicking on this node in the Tree.

Oh wow, I didn't know that.
Thanx for sharing I'll have a look at it.
What I am looking for is to make a custom mapping for the F1 where you can select different FX on each stem slot. I don't know if that would be possible.

The stem parts always are playing at the same time I watched a review and have played with them on the f1. I am pretty sure the effect is on or off on the parts of the file(stems). Just like a track, effect slots 1234 able to be used. I imagine assignable effects to each stem part would be too cpu heavy!?
Imagine all 4 decks using all 4 effects slots on 3 parts separately per deck.
If my math is right that would be up to 12 effects going per deck times 4. 48!!! That's a huge load and a lot of confusion too.
That's my understanding of it so far.

Yeah too bad though it would have been a great feature if it were possible but without too much load.
Anyhow I have been able to create a custom mapping for my F1 and using the pads as on/off buttons for the filters and fx and also for selecting fx 1 to 4.
Also when using the shift button I can use the rotary (filter) knobs for the key change per deck too bad this isn't possible per stem slot either. That would be cool if you can only change the key of the vocal slot.
Still figuring out what to use the rest of the buttons for.
So in a way I have mapped the F1 like the original mapping but with some extra's :)

I don't want to hi jack this topic so I'll start a new topic and post the mapping there, but I need to finish it first as it's now only using Deck A in the mapping.
