    Hi there

I'm a bit confusiled by the sync button and using time coded discs.
The vinyl mode changes to relative mode if you hit sync. Also it doesn't work or it is only half on.
At the moment I'm using traktor just like I ordinarely play with CDJs just without the hassle of cds. But it seems I should be able to use more features than I currently am doing.

Also can I use my pioneer DJM 800 connected as a MIDI device to controll the internal Traktor mixer but still use the timecodes?

Do you use the sync button while using the timecoded discs?

afaik timecode and sync dont go together except you sync a non timecode controlled deck to a tc controlled e.g. sync deck C to deck A.

why would you want to use the internal mixer if you have an 800 ? but it should work

It always works for me (using TC vinyl). Are you just tapping sync or holding it until both decks lock up? I find if you just tap it, it goes incrementaly, but if you hold it, it goes straight to the master tempo. Hope you get things sorted out.

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm not having any problems, I'm beatmatching by ear like I usually do in any case, I was just thinking if I have a complete different genre that is difficult for me to beatmatch by ear I should just be able to hit sync and presto!

I will use deck C and D for this then if it works better for a non timecode deck to sync to the timecoded ones.

I was just really wondering how you guys use the syncs if at all with timecode discs.

Is there any benefit to set up beatgrids if you are using only timecodes? (Except for the reason I mentioned)

    Internal mixer:
I was just wondering if that would be possible. I'll give it a try just for fun.

that's normal! it also changes to relative mode when you activate a loop or jump to a cue point. the reason is always the same: now the position on the timecode vinyl/cd does not correspond exactly with the position in the track anymore.

with timecode, you cannot sync-lock a track. so you just can trigger sync so far.
the half-shaded button usually shows that a track is out of the tempo range or doesnt have a beatgrid etc.
