I was never really big on Time stretching but now since it's in Machine I'm Time Stretching all those 1000's of "Drum Loops", "Guitar licks", "melody's" ect... that I have.. and I'm mixing them with my original beats and MAAAAN!.... 99.9% of the sample's are locking up perfect with my beats.

That Timestretch to Bar... is a nice feature.

I'm just fooling around with it and making "Banger's" LOL... it almost seems too easy now. LOL

So... what do you guys think of the Time Stretching in Maschine?

    Of course you're cheating.

But, using a sequencer, so am I.

I'm sure that real musicians will say that using any form of electronic instrument is, to a degree, 'cheating'. :S

Yes I love the feature. It only feels like cheating because it works so well.

Word makes me feel like cheating compared to a typewriter, but do I care about that.
I'm off to stretch some more stuff for the hell of it haha

It's not just how well it works but that is easy to access while working.
They did a good job of implementing it.

It's good that it turned out that way since people had waited so long for it to be added.

I have to admit it was the first thing I jumped to after 1.8 was up and running.:)
Got a truly pleasant surprise when I starting messing with it.
I love some of the stuff you can do with the slices in regard to the bars.

It's definitely not your fathers Timestretch.:D:lol:

If by "real musicians" you mean old guitar heroes (everyone plays guitar), then I agree they will say that. Many of the most outstanding electronic musicians are quite gifted musically and to my ears blow away many "real musicians" in terms of raw talent. Its all about the end result.

No - I took some brief lessons and didn't like it. I used to play drums and clarinet - now I play keyboards. Whats your point? Someone always responds to that phrase the same way you did. Do you play guitar? And if you do for the record I don't give a crap. The point is that "real musicians" often are egotists, especially guitar players.

    You are a cheerful chap.

So you ask if I play guitar then say you don't give a crap if I do. So why ask?
I have found failed musicians often have the worst attitude.

It was your point that was confusing.

Not a big fan of timestretch you have to careful on what you use it on, there is always a trade off in sound quality even with the best algorithms chosen.
I much prefer rexing things myself, there is a place for it, but dont go mad I say, it all adds up.

Some timestretching does add to stuff for some reason though, the beats algorithm in Ableton can add some beef to breaks etc for some reason, as a rule I won't use it on anything high quality.

A life saver if you're remixing though.

Also for those that say 'it works so well' stick a low freq bassline through it and tell me that lol, either that or you need some new monitors.

more like impatience, have you ever had to do a session with a rapper who can't rap, the wrong dj for the project on the decks, or somebody with 40 knobs and buttons making a couple of crappy sounds…… for a real jazz musician it must be torture.

They did time stretch right that's for sure, and Like Ghost pointed out it's not just the algorithm it's the workflow they applied.. this is a great example of what the maschine ethos is, they need to make it more consistent, for instance the maschine ethos also exist in the resampling features of maschine which makes resampling wonderful on the unit but then in other areas of sample mode it's almost self destructive how its set up to hamper itself…… very frustrating.
