Ok I recently just got Vokator because I've been hearing it's the best Vocoder to use and that I'm quite new to using vocoders (never used one in my life). I bought a mic and hooked it up to my soundcard's recording input, then turned on Vokator. I quickly exit out of the demo and load up a preset. I say something in the mic and all I can hear is my own voice, with no modifications or anything. I skim through almost every single preset and all I get is the same exact thing. On occasion I'd hear a slightly morphed echo of my voice, but still, the main part of the speech stays the same.

What I'm asking is how do I set it up so that I can talk and have Vokator change my speech live?

Use the A*B, B*A or mix modes.

How did you plug mic on it?

And can automation of vokator as VST be recorded in Cubase SX?

Use the live input on channel A.
Use the osc synth or wave synth on channel B. Now, speak into the mic while either 1) playing a note on the keyboard that's on the GUI or 2) playing something on an external keyboard on a MIDI port that's activated in Vokator's audio/MIDI settings (under options/preferences).
