also, elton, have you seen: https://remotify.io/

do you think it could make any elements of your work easier? perhaps it is too rudimentary.
i noticed one other strange behavior - when i open up a drum rack and press record in your controller mode, for some reason it defaults to recording into the 4th box in the session. there is a purple (session box?) around the first four tracks and it doesn't default to the top. not sure why

sorry elton one other bug to point out (you must be tired of my writings!) - when you record a track in drum mode- and then play it back - then you press record to overdub, sometimes it will randomly jump back and loop the first bar again - any ideas? does it make sense?

elton i think i figured out something. perhaps it is my own stupidity but maybe it can help others.
when i referred to losing state that i was experiencing frequently. - actually what i discovered is this - when you load a drum rack - what happens is the knob that would be used to change the octave ceases to function. now it only turns the drum rack up and down moving the pads. is there a way to make it so that it can still change octave within the drum rack instance? if i start another midi instance it will change octave again, but i cannot change octaves on the drum rack instance. also - this may be covered somewhere else, but how do you change the root note of the scale? thanks so much.

ps the reason i want to be able to change octaves within the drum rack is this - let's say i open a kit in maschine as a vst which i have mapped with drum rack - there is a cool melodic loop - i want to simply copy the kit by duplicating it to another track,. and then play the melodic sample in different notes. the way you would with keyboard mode in maschine - but if i do that in drum rack i can't change octaves. this workflow would be most simialr to maschine but would let you keep the advanced sequencing featues of ableton while using cool NI soundpacks.

    Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, there is no beta plan for now, I think I should've released a hotfix v1.4.1 for that crash issue, but I will think about it these days, as I have to separate the code to include the bug fixes only.

Unfortunately, it is impossible in Live (even for other scripts for other hardwares) to have a Maschine-like Keyboard mode for 1 single drum rack slot, because Live puts only one note per each pad, instead of Maschine Software where you can also have a full range of notes per single pad sound. In Live, the only possibility to achieve this would be to have a transpose knob and automation and then have it changed accordingly for each note, but that is a very tiring and useless workflow.

You cannot change the octave for all drum rack pads. What I suggest, would be that you create a Macro knob and map each pad's transpose to that knob and then rotate the knob (inside Live) for the drum rack to have all the pads transposed (-/+ 12 for octave).

In keyboard MIDI instrument mode, you can change the scale by using SHIFT + JOG WHEEL (restart button + jog wheel).
To change the root note, PUSH + JOG WHEEL ROTATE.

You will also receive a message inside Live to indicate the selected scale and root note. These changes will reflect to Live's scales inside clip.
If you change the scale and/or root note from Live using your mouse, it will reflect this change on the hardware as well.
The color of the pads in KEYBOARD mode will match with the selected clip's color. If there's no selected clip for a track, then the pads will have the color of the track when in this mode.

    Hello,

I have not received your email yet.
Did you send the email to this address: eltoni.memishi@live.com ?

Unfortunately, there is no tutorial/user manual just yet but I am working on it and will also consider making video tutorials and tips to cover every thing that the script offers.

The only guides available right now are the Installation and the information in detail under CHANGELOG.md (or in this thread's main post) related to the features of this script.

It will all be available on the upcoming update, together with new functionalities and bug fixes.

Thank you for your patience, if you need any help please let me know.

    Best,
    Elton

    Hello Nicolas,

This is unrelated to your primary subject however I have used Maschine, via my S88 MKII, with Ableton Live 10/11. I had difficulty getting Maschine to play multiple midi channels so I ave up and went back to Kontakt. My Studio is rather unique and is briefly explained below.

Anyone with advice on this chord detection idea I'd welcome their input.

I consider many of you an authority on all things KSP. A decade ago I started using Kontakt in my DAW with a very unique twist, a Korg PA4x as one of my three MIDI Controllers. The PA4x is much more than meets the eye having eight channels and it's own chord decoder which is actually an 8 channel by 32 measure sequencer and allows me to use what I call "Smart Plugins" like Electric Sunburst. By using these plugins I'm able to achieve some pretty impressive and realistic live play.

Due to cancer, covid-19, etc, I've now retired and would like to expand on what NI has done with these types of instruments. I haven't coded since the late 1990's so my skillset is a little rusty to say the least. Below is a copy/paste of a "vintage" script which I thought I'd use as a baseline if you think its basic structure is sound. I just don't want to invest a lot of time using a template which is not sound.

I've attached a pdf of the post from years ago below. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

    Hi,

    Sorry for my delayed response,
Please can you try changing the octave when in KEYBOARD mode, while the "PERFORM FX" button (hardware) is unlit (meaning that the arrangement view is not focused in the window, if using two screens or split window of Live's)?

    Thanks

hi elton, i followed your instructions precisely but the MK3 does not change octaves. the mikro works perfectly. i have them both connected. i tried it with just MK3 connected and it did not work, then connected mikro and it worked but mk3 still did not.

    Hello,

Could you help me and attach the Log.txt file so I could check if the script crashed while trying to change octaves from the MK3 hardware?
The Log.txt file is found under:
    • Windows - C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live x.x.x\Preferences\Log.txt
    • Mac - /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live x.x.x/Log.txt
    Thanks in advance,
    Elton

Elton Memishaj Just a quick heads-up but you might want to use PM if you need to be exchanging email address. We're dealing with tons of spam here and it might not be ideal to have email in the open like that.
