Recently, Traktor has exhibited some disturbing behavior. I'll make a playlist, shut Traktor down, come back to it, and the playlist will revert to an earlier state, without all the new tracks I added. This isn't constant / frequent but it has happened before two critical gigs recently, causing me to have to scramble and rebuild the playlists. The correct data isn't in any other collection files or backups. I have no idea why this is happening. Is there some setting I don't have set up properly? What's going on?!

Lenovo i7, 16 GB RAM, Traktor S4 and sometimes a Z2, music on external HD

Mmmm, maybe it's a bug, i don't know if there's a hidden setting somewhere to prevent this from happening. What i do know is this: I don't trust traktor when closing it. What i mean is when i'm preparing for a gig, making playlists/comments/cue point etc...., i MANUALLY save the collection (intervals ca. 5 minutes).

You can make a shortcut in the keyboard preferences, for example mine is "control+s". Hitting control+s activates the save collection command. I'm not the only one to strongly advice that you make it a habit to manually store your collection occasionally.

Every now and then, traktor screws up storing your edits when closing the program. I've learnt this the hard way!

    Good luck!

Thanks! I don't work for the company anymore, but they do produce a GREAT product. :)

And yeah, I'm manually saving and that appears to be working but it's SUPER dumb that we have to do that. I've been using Traktor since Traktor Scratch Pro. Losing playlists is a wholly new phenomenon.

Unfortunately traktor isn't 100% monkey-proof! While i'm typing this i was reading the following article: https://www.digitaldjtips.com/2018/04/traktor-pro-phased-new-hardware-software-announced-2018/.

I think the article speaks for itself..... Speaking for myself, i had (and still have) a great time with traktor and it's flaws! The only thing i fear the most is the dreaded FREEZE while dj-ing.....

So remember: Save save save....... https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/search/9353593/?q=flushing&o=date&c[node]=210

I love Traktor too, but losing playlists is blech. This functionality has been working for years and hasn't changed at all in forever. Why is it screwing up now?

    According to digitaldjtips.com:

.....It is an open secret that Traktor Pro has become a bit of an unwieldy beast from a development point of view, because it is based on an awful lot of legacy code that breaks too easily whenever Native Instruments tries to improve the platform – so it’s no surprise that the company has decided to rewrite from the ground up.....

Yeah, but the music is fine. It's just the playlists that are disappearing. When I reload previously analyzed tracks, they aren't re-analyzed - all my cue points, etc. are still there, even if the tracks aren't appearing in the collection.

And your collection.nml file? On your laptop, or also on disk?

I've made a point of just saving my collection every 30 min or so when working on playlists, and always before shutting down. That seems to be working out for me so far.
