    Hi Guys

I've been battling on and off with a problem that sometimes Traktor Pro doesn't pick up my controller. My work around has been to unplug the VCI and turn it off, close Traktor, turn VCI on, plug it back in, wait for pretty lights and open Traktor again, most of the time this works.

However, this weekend I lost the connection to the controller 3 times during a set, and based on the above work-around I had to make some quick plans to get a cd on while I attemted to re-establish the connection.

Does anybody have some practical advice (aside from buy a Mac) on what might cause this and how it might be solved? Its a bit of a 'mare if you have to re-boot the software 3 times in 2 hours!
I have a theory that it might be caused by the bass rumble messing around with the jog-wheel and firing loads of minor midi messages through, which causes the software to crap out in the end and so have adjusted the sensitivity (which had been turned up by the techy after a firmware upgrade). But this is just a theory.

    Much appreciated!

Hi mate give us the normal spec info first so we can see what might be the problem, are you using a usb hub with loads of things plugged in etc...... quite alot of laptops need powered hubs if you run a few things off on usb port or buy a power adaptor from maplin.

Also with it finding your vci-100 do you start traktor and then plug in or have it plugged in and start traktor even on my Mac traktor does not find the midi controller if I start it then plug in my vci 100.

I have a similar problem, it occurs randomly. When mine goes it locks up T Pro and causes loud digital noise (as though the track has locked on a single sample). If I unplug the controller, the track continues to play, I can re-connect the controller and continue using it until it locks again (5-10 minutes), by this time I have been kicked out of the club!

Replace the cable that came with the unit for a higher quality one - i did this and stopped having these issues.

that has happened to me sometimes, i just turn off the VCI-100 (do not need to unplug) WHILE Traktor is RUNNING ,from the power button, turn it on again, then go to Options (In Traktor) de-select VCI-100 from the midi list and reselect it again and that's it, back on :) without restarting, try that

just for the record, it's always better to use an external power adaptor for the VCI-100, do you use that?

When I got to testing this week the same thing happened at home, just the once though. I have adjusted sensitivity, and am now running with another USB lead. (Can't remember if it happened before or after I replaced it).

Unfortunately this is the only procedure that seems to remedy the situation when it occurs:

    - unplug vci usb
    - shut down traktor
    - turn off vci
    - turn it back on (this is my procedure to get initial pick up too)
    - plug it back in
    - wait for pretty lights
    - boot traktor
    - hold thumbs that it picks up

if it doesn't then I am forced to restart the laptop! - obviously none of these are proper solutions.

I never run anything without its own power supply. Laptop, audio interface and vci all have direct power.

I will report back if the change of lead cures my woes and if it happens again I will try the power down without unplugging-reselection process - but I have been avoiding my VCI coz I am still pissed at it crapping out during my playing live so many times.

PS Running a TOSHIBA (boo - hiss) P100 10P - it has enough spec to handle
Edirol FA 66 (for my sins)
and the VCI (with my love/hate in equal measures)

tried the - turning off - turning on - deselecting - reselecting trick with no luck.

    Any other solutions?

Do you use external power adaptor? or you power thr VCI through the USB port?

Its better with a power adaptor
