    Hi guys,
I'm about to branch out and venture from traditional djing to a all digital set up.
Initially I had intended on purchasing traktor pro and running that with an external mixer and a&h 1d's to control the midiI've got a 2.5ghz MacBookPro that's managing it all. However now I've been confused by store clerks and audio guys about soundcards and interfaces and INS and outs and what not..
    So basically my question is;
I want to run 4 decks in traktor pro using the 1ds and an external mixer in a club setting(djm800) and I have no interest in using cdjs or vinyl to control. Will I need to purchase a soundcard/ interface like the audio8 for my intended purpose? And if a interface, not specifically the audio8, IS required for what I want to do, can you steer me in the direction of a cheaper one?

I know this is a pretty straightforward question but any help would really be appreciated
    cheers

If you want to use all 4 decks in External mode (That is with an external analogue mixer) you need a Soundcard with 4 Stereo outputs (or 8 mono)
Know that you always need a pair of outputs for each deck
If you want to play in Internal mode you would need only 2 Stereo outs, 1 for the main mix and one for CUEing
What kind of mixer are you planning to use?
There are mixers with integraded soundcard, integraded midi, or even both

Well I'll be using a Behringer djx700 or 750 to start with as it's fairly simmilar to a djm800 in layout which is more or less standard issue thesedays in the industry and my a&h 1d's doing the midi control. I'd like to play with all 4 decks in traktor for the sets I'll be doing. Does this now mean I'm better off copping the full price for traktor scratch pro and the audio8 and ditching the time-coded stuff or is there a cheaper audio interface that will do the job just as well as the audio8. Also is TSP and TP the only software with 4 deck control or does TDuo have it aswell?

Long question short. On a djm800/behringer djx750 what's required to use for 4 decks on traktor for a live club gig (soft + hardware)
again, any input is extremely Appreciated as I've got to get this rig up and running 100% in about a month

Well, for what I've understood you want to play your 4 deck Traktor Pro (no need for Scratch if you don't need the timecode) with an external mixer. You'll need a 8 output (=4 stereo output card), being the audiodj 8 an example. There are lots of soudcards if you are not planning to spend that much money on the audiodj8 (I'm not very in for this matter).

As for controllers, you can use only your keyboard if you want to, but to be honnest, it ain't no fun. I don't know if you can map all virtual buttons (play, cue points,... ) with your already own controller, so you may need another one, or map your mbp keyboard.

Well you will need a soundcard with 4 pairs of outputs, yet since you will be using Traktor with MIDI you don't need Scratch,
But If let's say you buy the AK8 , which is a really great soundcard with lot's of stuff on it and the TRAKTOR Pro edition (not the Scratch), if you sum them up it's the same money with the full TRAKTOR SCRATCH Kit

The Duo version have only 2 decks, 2 fx engines

not teh best option, but couldn't arien_kaye use an audio dj 4 and mono each channel out to teh mixer?

i've ordered tpro and audio 4 and am hoping to get all four channels outputing to a pa system for shows. thats do-able isn't it? that would be internal mixer control though.

with Audio4 you can play all 4 decks in internal mode, In external mode maybe you can use one output per deck but then every deck would be mono

If you want stereo, that was not a good choice (4 track stereo).

think he means teh ak1 - audio kontrol 1 - by NI. its got midi buttons and a big beefy knob on it. its pretty nice. the audio dj 8 looks good and rugged tho.
