    Regarding building in Reaktor:

Do all of the 'builders' on this board know the exact functionality of every single module in the Reaktor library, or do you reference the manuals when you need to put something together?

I'm chuntering my way through the manuals (again) in order to learn how to make some nice effects in R5, but am wondering if taking the time to learn every single module is a worthwhile effort?

    Ta!

FWIW I read the manual a couple of times, started building simple stuff with the modules I understood, and gradually grew into a few more over time.

As a test I just had a look through the manual, and had experiences like "Ah, it's got a frequency divider!" and "Hm, I've never understood how I'd use a differentiator". Last month was the first time I got a Geiger oscillator to really work for me. So there are still modules I'm not particularly aware of, some I'm learning, and some I still don't understand - and Core still goes over my head.

I think that once you know the basics, it's best just to dig in - but non-judgementally, not kicking yourself if the results don't immediately sound mind-blowing; then, once you start enjoying yourself, you'll naturally start investigating more modules.

Hope that makes sense, have a good week!

i am with m3m on this.

i will add that i learn a heck of a lot from reverse engineering User Library uploads. Martin Brinkmann's uploads have probably been the most useful on those terms.

so i wouldn't learn every module. i would download stuff, look at the structure, have your Reaktor Hints on and read the info as you move your cursor over the Modules. and also have that manual open for further reading.

I've studied the audio modules pretty thoroughly in the manual. But there are still a lot of event-processing modules I've never learned or used.
