I thought I would have some time to test yesterday but it never worked out that way...:(

Anyway, will try your latest TSI file tonight and will post my results :D

Hat's off to you for the dedication! Wow, 4:30a.m., you say?

EDIT: Quick question, architech. In the event of a freeze, can you simply resume by clicking on the desired function on the screen instead of using the button/knob/slider? Just curious. Thanks.

@dj_gee: hope it works well with your system :) And yes in case of a freeze just click any of the LED-out enabled buttons (play, cue... etc.) from within Traktor and everything goes back to normal. Hope it doesn't happen though.

    Version 1.2 Changes:

    * Channel Level Meters *DISABLED* due to conflicts with ASIO4ALL (maybe just on my Laptop...)

    * FX Mode almost completely redone: you no longer have to hold AUTOMIX in order to use jogwheels to control DRY/WET Setting. Pressing AUTOMIX once enables FX Mode - jogs act as DRY/WET controls ; MIC FX and MIC PITCH control Effect 1 and Effect 2 ; AUTO and IN/AUT are customized to load specific groups of effects (as seen on one of Ean Golden's VCI-100 videos) ; jogwheel sensitivity improved. To exit FX Mode press AUTOMIX again.

    * Super Cue Mode - Press MIC ON/OFF once --> store up to 3 cue points (for now) with the "-" button for Deck A and "+" button for Deck B. To play the cue points use PLAY (1), SET (2) and CUP (3). To exit Super Cue mode, press MIC ON/OFF again.

Architech, TeLLy and I downloaded your .tsi and played around with it this evening and I must say, very nice work. We did however change some small things around such as pitch bend (+ and - buttons) back to pitch bend (can't live without them...lol.) We also noticed that you mapped the jog wheels as Jog Scratch + Tempo Bend for both the top and sides of the wheels. While there is nothing wrong with this, I noticed 1 minor thing that I wanted to correct. If you touch the metal portion on the top, the song stops briefly and then proceeds to play again. If you were to touch the top and then proceed to either scratch or back cue or whatever, it would stay put, but I couldn't get it to stay in one spot if I was to hold it at a specific point in a track for more than 1 second. TeLLy and I decided to replace the Joe Scratch + Tempo Bend to Scratch and Scratch On for both decks. Below is how we have it mapped:

Control I/O Assignment Mode Mapped To
Scratch In Deck A Relative Ch01.CC.016
Scratch In Deck B Relative Ch02.CC.016
Scratch On In Deck A Relative Ch01.Note.A#2
Scratch On In Deck B Relative Ch02.Note.A#2

With this, we were able to hold on to the metal top while a track was playing and it would stay still. Overall, we both loved the effects mapping and the LED outputs...well done!

That's actually pretty cool! I've remapped it too! How about your sensitivity settings?

    I've added also

Control I/O Assignment Mode Mapped To
Seek Position In Deck A Relative Ch01.CC.016
Seek Position In Deck B Relative Ch02.CC.016

    Sensitivity: 10%

    ;]

    Cheers mates!

My sensitivity settings are at 5%. What does Seek Position do? Is that pitch tempo bend with the sides of the jog? If so, YOU'RE THE MAN! If not, you're still the man for hooking this tsi up! ;)

Don't forget that you can also set the physical "touch" sensitivity of the jog wheel on the back of the Spin. This will obviously have an influence.

Gotta chime in on this one. Architech, your TSI is phenomenal. Considering the limitations of this unit (which I've pretty much crossed off my list now, sadly), you've made a real monster of a mapping. The changes dj_gee and I made this weekend were really only personal preference stuff but I'm glad you like em.

Thank you fellas! :) Really appreciate your feedback!

And now... some more Spin fun!

    Version 1.3

    * In FX Mode Effect 1 Ammount is now controlled by the Tempo Fader, Effect 2 Ammount by MIC FX and Effect 3 Ammount by MIC PITCH. That way you now have full control over the whole FX Section. (almost like VCI-100 Fader FX Mode)

    * While in FX Mode pressing SYNC would do 2 things. First the FX Panel will change to Advanced and second a special Delay setting will be loaded so that you can seamlessly mix trax with totally different tempos. ( "+" button is mapped as delay freeze button ;] ) (as seen on Ean Golden's video here :) ) It was intended to be used with the Oxygen 8, but it should function and feel the same way with the Spin :)

This is the video where Ean shows what I mean! It's a nasty little trick indeed! ;]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w18hImPt8U&feature=player_embedded

    * dj_gee and TeLLy improved jog wheel mapping. Track now remains stopped until you release the platter. AWESOME Tweak! Thanks for this one guys!

    * While track is playing the outside of the Jog Wheels act as Tempo Bend / While the track is stopped they become Seek Position control ;] (these two forced me to drink my beer supply for the whole darn week! :D )

    * Added Soft Takeovers to Volume Faders, X-Fader, Tempo Faders and EQ Section (did that because I plan on using those for a rather odd purpose later in the TSI development ;] )

This is it for now ... ;]

Hey, architech...thanks for the new update. I tried your mapping from post #25 but unfortunately, it's a bit jittery for me. In other words, it kind of stutters when I try it. I changed my sensitivity from 5% to 10% and I still get the same response. When you move the jog wheel from the sides, do you experience the same? The time on the track seems to go back/forward for about a second when engaged and then it goes back. Not sure if that makes any sense but that's my experience for now...not quite as smooth but thanks for trying! :)

the current version of the TSI works with 1.2.4 :)

Version 1.4.3 Vestax Spin by oldfashioned (aka architech) - Full MAP for Traktor 1.2.3 (ver. 1.4.3).tsi

    * MIC FX mapped as Headphone Mix

    * Holding the "needle" button enables Pitch Bend on the jogs

    (as proposed by eddij )

(many things are changed and some cool stuff is added since my last update here @ Traktor Forums. So if you have any questions or feedback... post here or @ DJTT)

    Cheers

    Hello,

I am fairly new to DJing and so far I've only managed to do a couple of sets via mouse in Traktor, but I am really interested in buying either Vestax Spin or to wait for Typhoon.

However, as it seems, Typhoon is going to be more expensive although it should offer exactly the same features as Vestax Spin. The only problem is the compatibility.

Do I understand it right then, that with this little file here I can use Spin with Traktor even on Windows or Mac? That would be superb and would save me a bit of money (and better colors :) )

I do have a Macbook atm, but I am not sure if I will buy another one, once it stops working.

Thank you for any information and hints!

Ive got your .tsi file loaded in and most of it works: the scratching is fine, the play buttons, the EQs and the syncs all seem to work well.
the set cue works too, but the cup button screws with my tempo for some reason. also i dont get how your effects controls and looping controls work.
my final problem may just have to do with how new i am to traktor, i learned how to use this controller with the free djay demo.
my gain sliders dont have any responsive piece in traktor, though they still seem to control the gain.
the crossfader and deck volumes also dont match any piece in traktor, i dont even see a software crossfader! i can change the view to 2d &4d internal and external modes, but it doesnt help.
is there anything you have written outlining your control settings in this .tsi file?
    that would be very helpful.

    SPINtax

    Hi all,

I am new to this forum, and I just downloaded this TSI for my vestax spin. It works great. I had a couple questions:

Where can I find what the various are assigned to now, if different? For example, when I click on FX it does nothing...

I'm not sure if this is a Vestax question or a Traktor question. Let's say you have two tracks beat-matched. Is there a "hot key" that will temporarily speed up or slow down a track? Or a way to do so on the mixer? When I just had my SPIN and djay software I was able to temporarily speed up or slow down the track by touching the jogwheel on the PLASTIC rim and spin in either direction (similar to vinyls).

Again, kudos to this TSI :D
