You need to either set it all up yourself or load a TKS with all the settings. I believe Vestax has a TKS you can download free from the VCI-100 page, or you can peruse a number of VCI-100 TKS files uploaded to this forum somewhere, just do some searching about.

    Traktor LE not recognizing

    Hello,

I am sure this topic must be addressed somewhere, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just bought a VCI-100, and I was all excited to hook it up and start mixing. After getting home with the box, I cleaned my apartment, washed some dishes, did some laundry, all to get ready for the big moment.

Then, I perused the manuals and hooked everything up. I installed Traktor LE, which came with the product. I installed the VCI-100, which windows took care of automatically.

HOWEVER, Traktor doesn't recognize the MIDI controller at all.

I uninstalled my Logitech Quickcam, as suggested by NI support website, that hasn't helped.

How can I get this to work?

So far, between Traktorscratch and this fiasco, I have had nothing but problems with NI software. Why can't it just WORK?

It's summer and my tracktor /VCI stuff is at school. From what I can remember, there is a TKS file on the instalation cd with a VCI-100 file. From Midi settings in Tracktor, browse to the cd files. By clicking on a folder - I don't remember exactly what it's called, a set of files will drop down. One of them will be for the VCI-100. Click install.
I don't know enough to be of much help, but I try.

    VCm-100 vs. Vci-100

I have one question and one question only about both of these wonderful controllers by Vestax. The vcm-100 has a direct headphone input for monitoring channels, how do you this on a vci-100? That is the only thing that is keeping me from buying one already... is it a complicated process to assign the channels as master outs and as booth outs? and how does one do this?

The VCM-100 has a soundcard built into it. The VCI-100 does not.

You wouldn't plug headphones into the VCI-100...it's strictly a midi controller.

so how is it that you use headphones to cue the different channels using the vci-100?

It's a midi mapping in Traktor that translates over to your soundcard.

"so how is it that you use headphones to cue the different channels using the vci-100?"

Your soundcard has to have multiple outputs. If it does, it is easy to assign a set of outs for your house sound, and another set for your headphones (moniter). AFAIK, laptop internal soundcards don't usually have the multiple outputs you need. On a desktop system there might be two output jacks, one in back and one in front, but I have no idea if they are seperately assignable.

I was worried about this as well. I actually had some trouble figuring it out. I was trying to use my EMU soundcard at first. Luckily I have the Audio 8 DJ soundcard that I got for TraktorScratch. Turns out it has plenty of outputs, one of them being a single stereo 1/4" jack that is perfect to assign to the moniter.

For a cheaper route, there are also a couple of handy little gadgets on the market, one of which is made by Vestax, the TUB-2, which is a USB audio interface with what looks like the two outputs you need. All you need after that is a RCA to headphone adaptor.

How's the sound on the VCI 100 and Audio 8 combined. Will the VCI work on a big club system atmosphere? I would probably use this controler with an external mixer.

 Ahh, OK I understand there is no sound coming out from the vci, I was JUST wondering how it would sound with an audio 8 combo. Reason being that I'm used to a nice analog sound :p I am obviously NEW to this forum and new to traktor so i'm looking for answers to alot of things I have'nt a clue about.
I've spent a numerous amount of long nights reading and searching this forum for all sorts of info..
As a vetran NI traktor supper " I know my ****" member, I would expect you to understand.
I've been DJing for over 25 years (using old skool 12's & Urei) and decided to go the traktor route, i'm just looking for info thats all. Yes, I know how to use a search function, My eyeballs are about to fall out of my head!
I'm very sorry if I annoy you from asking my newbie questions and or statements.

First off, I'm not hating with you, at all.

Secondly, you don't need to qualify your DJ experience with me. Whether you're new school or old school holds no barring with me. I'm just here to help man.

What I'm trying to explain to you is that the VCI100 doesn't 'sound' different if you use the Audio 8, the Saffire LE, onboard, etc.

Traktor itself, however, will sound drastically different.

You might want to search the forums for people's use of different soundcards. The Audio 8 is a great piece of hardware.

I turn it off and restarted the computer it appears again!

Can anyone help me work with both at the same time?

ExVinyl DJ retired about 13 years ago, recently picked up a Macbook Pro a M Audio Fast track pro and VCI 100 and somehow managed to get it all up and running smoothly along with traktor pro :)

already put together 6 mixes without any real issues, and happily messing around using the VCI loops and stuff, got my Traktor Bible so will soon delve into that too, either way if someone who has been out of the DJ world for as long as I have can set this all up without an issue I expect anyone can :)

Plenty of good stuff in the Bible as well.

    Glad your enjoying Traktor.
