Viola/Violin like "emulations"?

    Hi, I like the sound of Violas/violin, specially with distortion and other effects. Of course, i can search for a sample library, but I want to know about synthetic options.
    With a synth I can modulate and find more precisely that sound that Im searching.
    Can you recommend some instruments/ensembles?
