it's funny because no one else makes products like NI so even if they don't come out with proper drivers... I'm still going to buy their product. Where else can I get a guitar rig... i mean theres other simulators out there but this is the best thing thats ever happened. I just wish that there could be some statement that they have in fact started working on them. Give is a release date and make that the goal to work towards you know?

Guitar Rig is really a non issue for me, because I have the UAD Nigel plugs and a physical Tonelab LE processor.

But in general, I agree with you...and that is what I'm looking for; a statement of direcction, and not just a "general Vista, rah rah yay!" blurb.

I need to know if NI will support Vista 64 bit, and if so, when(ish).

In the absence of such a statement, I will have to decide whether or not to wait. Other companies offer vsti's that sound like a Moog, a Prophet, a Juno, or a B3. There's plenty of competiiton.

I'll wait a little longer, but not forever. I think we loyal customers at least deserve a small statement of intent, so that we can think about our decisions and budget for likely expectations.

    That's all I'm asking for.

I've been testing with Vista 64 SP1 for 2 weeks now with Sonar 7. I finally figured out why Battery wasn't running, so now that works.

It definitely runs the DAW better - projects/files load much faster and general work is less sluggish... I haven't, however, been able to reduce latencies past that of XP 32b (although low enough already for me to do real-time recording/midi, etc... )

Vista requires some work to get usable as a daily machine but I actually enjoy using it now and have found no major issues other than those apps not compatible with it - but that is expected. I do hope to see more 64b plugins.

It would not run in Vista 64 SP1 - in either standalone or as a plugin. I have it working fine now as a plugin in Sonar (well, a little bug here and there but only in instances I do not encounter to do work) and working standalone. I'll be trying an alternate 'fix' on a fresh (and permanent) install of Vista 64 shortly.

i'm with ya there man. i bought vista ultimate and installed the 64 bit version on a new hard drive.. left good old XP on the original hard drive. moved all my games to Vista... and even though i'm a noob here and with PC music production... I'm leaving all that stuff on XP until Vista will run it as good as the latter. And hey, even 64 bit games with DX10 are lagging behind terribly !

I'm building my dream workstation next weekend, and I'm using Vista 64. (2x Xeon Harpertown, 8g RAM, RAID, for 3d Design & Audio Work, can't wait)

I have had some experience with older versions of NI instruments and samplers, and had planned on purchasing/using Komplete + Kore (which is how I ended up here, and reading this thread) but I may need to look elsewhere.

It's past time that vendors put forth the effort to develop drivers for 64 bit Windows, as I believe the additional capabilities (ie- more RAM) matters for people working with large media files.

I've waited a year to add memory to my home system.. See you guys in the future :)

What it likely means is Vista RC2, like they did with Windows 2003 RC2 :)

Considernig how much i like 2K3 RC2, it's probably very good news.

Interestingly, most of my Vista problems are hardware related; particularly USB devices. I'm yet to find a USB to DB9 serial adaptor that actually works in Vista64; I need them to connect to console cables for Cisco switches so I literally can't work thanks to Microsoft's tomfoolery. I keep a Virtual Machine with Windows XP SP2 on it on my laptop, it's a pain but has to be done.

Wouldn't want to record in a VM though ;)

Just a possibility with the adapter... I used some microcontroller boards from a company called Rabbit Semiconductor. Any 'generic' DB9 to USB adapter commonly available wouldn't work. I was stuck buying the 40$ Rabbit adapter. I've heard it working for other troublesome interfaces other than for Rabbit uC use... maybe a possibility?

Personally I would just recommend everyone not to upgrade to vista until it gets stabilized, in about 4 years =)

In 1-2 years there won't be Vista anymore, but it's successor... :)
