NI site says VISTA 64 DRIVER update will be available the second half of '08..hmmm....I'm still patiently waiting. Maybe I should just start writing the code myself. RIDICULOUS!

    NI & Vista 64 bit

    No sir,
no matter what anybody else tells you, it does NOT work on Vista 64 bit machines. Those ppl either don't know what they have or don't know what they're talking about. I have first hand experience. Don't open it and return it. Try E-Mu, or MOTU, or even Line 6...those companies are definetly on the ball and understand customer support.
    good luck

It's coming as part of the 3.2 update. It's been announced publicly and it is coming.

They requested beta testers a month ago.

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72828

I replied and then never heard a word. I would have at least expected something to the effect of "Thank-you for your interest but we currently have all the testers we need" . Instead the request (sent twice) was completely ignored.

Reread my post, it technically functions using Vmware but is too slow for practical use.

So hopefully this new patch will come out sometime soon. I have my Session hooked up to my old computer right now, which is kind of a pain in the butt.

NI you need to have 64 bit drivers for everything you make, especially hardware, because while 32 executables can function in a 64 bit OS, drivers cannot. More than 4GB of RAM i becoming more and more common and people want to be able to use it.

NI makes all announcements on the forum from Thomas Martin at NI. Please check the main Guitar Rig forum post to keep an eye on its progress.

Information will be posted about them at the earliest possible moment. The thread reflects that they are in testing. I know that you'd rather have stable software in the end.

Congratulations to the development team & everyone @ NI for the long-awaited Vista x64 driver (2.0.10.0).
To my surprise I checked this morning and found out that the new driver supports Vista x64.
I'm glad to report that the driver is good and high quality. Everything works - session I/O, Guitar Rig 3, Kore, works as expected with Cubase LE4.
So far so good. . . and very stable.
Thanks again. My patience has been rewarded.

First, download all the updates from NI's support site.

Assuming you bought the Guitar Rig Session XE, install the following (version latest as of 26 Jan 09):
    - Service Centre 2.0.6.1
    - Session IO driver 2.0.10.1
    - Kore Player 2.0.4
    - Guitar Rig (Install your original version), then upgrade to Guitar Rig 3.2.0
    - Install pop drums pack (original version is OK).

Then .. if yours came with Cubase LE4, it's a bit tricker.
    - On steinberg.net, do the following for vista x64 support:
    -- Download Cubase LE 4 update 4.1.2
    -- Download Cubase LE 4 4.1.3.853 hotfix

    - Go to Syncrosoft's website (http://www.syncrosoft.com/Support-78-11.html) and download the latest version of the License Control Center for Vitsa x64 support. Install the License Control Center.

    - Install Cubase LE4 on the original DVD. Remember to NOT install the syncrosoft control center, as it is the older version from the one you've just downloaded and installed.

    - Once Cubase is installed, update it with the Cubase LE update 4.1.2, and then with the 4.1.3.853 hotfix you've downloaded from Steignberg's website.

    - DONE. Enjoy!

PS: My Cubase runs MUCH smoother now, with my PC with 8GB RAM. Yes, Cubase is still a 32-bit app, but at least it can now utilise a full 4GB RAM if it needs to; and other running apps don't need to be swapped out.
