Vocoder

Hi, I was just playing around with the demo version of The Mouth. I thought it was really good fun, but I can't afford it at the moment. Is there anything else I might use with Maschine as a kind of vocoder to FX the vocals?

I just downloaded TAL Vocoder - looks good and is in my FX but when I play a voice with it, it does not work - no sound at all - what am I doing wrong?

I think you've got it set up as a MIDI instrument (i.e., requiring MIDI note input), but you're wanting to use it as just an audio effect. Try enabling the input mode (and RTFM).

Thanks for the response. I've enabled the input mode - still does not work. I've got the manual and trying to tinker with it in relation to the set up they have pictured in Ableton (as there is no Maschine guidance) but still no joy...

 

If you want it to work with already recorded audio, then you need to designate one of Sound slots to just TAL Vocoder.
Route audio output (via Output tab) to Sound slot where vocoder is loaded.
Do not forget to feed vocoder track with some MIDI notes.

And you need to have TAL Vocoder in the first plugin slot of a Sound to do that.

 

Yeah, been doing it that way with TAL Vocoder and NI Razor. Would be nice to have Vocoder as native FX in Maschine, though.

At last - I did it - yay - I had to mess around with the midi channels

Note that this requires Chromatic Fire, TAL Vocoder (AU), and some of Darren's samples...

Just save your project with samples to avoid a lack of samples on another computer.

If anybody wants to open your shared project, he/she/it must ensure that the TAL-Vocoder (free) has been installed.

 

Regarding vocoder-workflow with the TAL-Vocoder, apart from already recorded samples,
it should be also possible to talk into the mic (connected with the plugin) while record and playing notes simultaneously on Maschine or a keyboard.

I haven't tried it but it should be all about routing some INs (mic) and OUTs (sound) as well as for recording the result of the vocoder to a specified sound slot.
I could imagine that it would be a lot of fun to play with a vocoder by use of chord(sets) and additional FX.

Exactly. The folder which has been created with "save project with samples...".

 

I tried uploading the files from the sample folder but this website doesn't allow it...
