Holding Auto and moving the knobs in mixer mode does not record automation.

Doing the same in Channel -> Output -> Audio -> Level (hardware) DOES record vol automation, but the Level value (dB) on the screen does not change when the automation plays back (although the sound does)... nor does the level slider on the mixer screen... yet they are apparently the same parameter as simply adjusting one (without automation) adjusts the other.

Simple volume automation should be possible?

Are you talking about the DB value displayed in Sound>Output>Audio Level Knob? The value is where the Knob is centered at, not the db value of output.

The meter on the Mixer does react to outgoing signal level for me, but it's hard to tell if it's a subtle automation because it takes a long time for the meter to drop down again, it has a big release/hold time.

Yes, Sound>Output on the software, or Channel -> Output -> Audio -> Level on the hardware - this IS automatable. BUT the value doesn't change on playback of automation on the hardware (maybe this is intentional and I've misunderstood, but I'm expecting the value displayed to move with the automation. I can see the automation ring on the software does move).

But mixer levels on the hardware mixer screen are NOT automatable at all currently. Think it would be much better if you could automate these, in line with most other DAWS.

The value doesn't change because even though it's automated you can still change it, and that changeable value is what is being displayed, not sure how to explain it but think of it as 2 Layers of the same button, one is the automation and the other is the top layer that also affects the automation and is displayed.

I would love to be able to automate from the Mixer menu directly too!

yes I do get that, in fact I think I used to know it but forgot! o_O

But an automatable mixer would be a powerful thing I think
