    Hi Folks,

I've been using Kontakt 2 for a few years now and just ran into a problem.

I'm working on a large orchestral piece and I needed to get more volume out of the French Horn instrument. I have it at full midi volume, 127.

I found that full midi volume (127) only moves the instrument volume (master level control) on the Instrument Header to about 1/2 way, which I think is 0.0

If I grab the volume slider with my mouse I can drag it to where I want it, ie: slide it to the right...to get the volume I need for this particular instrument in this particular part of the piece.

But... how do I do that with midi? Again, full midi volume of 127 only pulls the slider to the middle of its full travel.

    Thanks,

    Fred

Disable Instrument Options>Controller>accept standard controllers for Volume & Pan. (make other arrangements for panning) and use MIDI automation (CC#7) to control global volume slider. This will give much better dynamic range.

I can't remember if this feature exists in K2 (it definitely does in K3, but I don't have K2 at hand to look right now) but in the instrument options of K3 there is an option to change the range of MIDI CC#7 -- and you would be able to change this to the full range if you want. That would solve your problem.

However, I can't remember if this exists in K2 or not. Try looking for it.
