I've always had minor annoyances with the volume pedal. It's been suggested here before that we be allowed more control over the volume curve and/or the expression pedal curves. I think that is a must-have now.

I cannot get an even sweep out of the volume pedal. It either turns on too fast, or it doesn't completely cut the signal at the very bottom. The algorithm is screwy in that it cuts dB instead of scaling the signal by a percentage. The problem arrises when I try to use the volume pedal on hi gain presets. I have to set the minimum volume to -80dB to completely cut the signal, but that stretches the whole sweep out and it takes half the pedal to go from -80 to -20. Setting the mid point higher is useless because it just puts a hard knee in the sweep. Most of the volume increase would have to happen in the early stages of the pedal sweep.

Please give us a pedal that goes from 0% to 100% signal.

Agree, I don't see why you can't set it to be completely off at the extreme end - I'd have thought that would be the default setting.

And a simple curve selection like you get on the velocity curve of Kontakt, that would do quite nicely.

The most annoying thing for me is that it doesn't turn off. Anyway, what I do is use a split with a volume pedal on Channel A. Turn the pedal all the way down, and the "min volume" and "half volume" to zero so it passes no signal. Then use the split crossfader as your volume pedal.

Not only does it turn off, control is also linear, in %.

If you want to mess with the curve then you could put another volume pedal on channel B, assign the pedal to the same MIDI controller as the split crossfader, then mess with the controls on that volume pedal and/or the controller value mapping "brackets" in the controller assignment pane.

Fastfourier, I am sure that works but I am also sure you agree that's a complex way to achieve a very simple goal. Moreover, it is a goal that shouldn't be all that hard to achieve.

For all its complex effects and possibilities, I sometimes feel Guitar Rig (or, to be quite honest, NI in general) tends to leave out or plain forget about very straighforward advanced settings.

Please, NI, give us a few additional advanced options. A Zero setting and Curve Selection on the Volume Pedal. An effects loop on the amp models. Things like that...

I wouldn't say it's all that complex - merely one extra component. You can configure the whole thing in a container to make your UI a bit less cluttered, and easier to recall.

That said, my solution falls squarely into the "workaround" category. Of course it would be nice to have the volume pedal work in the same way as a real one (i.e. properly)!

fastfourier, thanks for the workaround! LOL, so now if I want to have a split and pedal-control the volume of just one side (most of my presets so I can get "spillover"), I have to put another split inside of it - Splitception!

Seriously, NI ??? A volume pedal that doesn't go to -infinity dB ??? Is this true??? It's version 5 of this product!

Do I have to bring Vinnie Falcone in here? Is that what you want?
