    WTF~~?

Traktorscratch, and now the VCI-100 with Traktor LE, they don't work!

OK, Traktorscratch works, but only after I hook everything up, turn it on, and restart 4 or 5 times. Why does it work? I don't know! Why doesn't it work? I don't know!

Now, I bought the VCI-100, with Traktor LE. I had it playing and working after 24 long hours of fiddling around. I shut down to go get a drink, came back, tried to hook up and play some more music, no go. I have been fiddling with it for hours, trying different boot up cycles and sound card cycles and goddamnit it won't work.

I feel like there is no logic to why or why not these things work. I am on the verge of taking back the VCI-100 and never relying on a NI product again.

It is such a sweet toy! Why can't NI software just effing WORK!

What are your computer's specs? What do you mean they don't work, is the file not loading, not playing, does the VCI not detect? If you're having problems with both of these products I'm inclined to think something is wrong with your computer.

NI software worked just fine for me this weekend, 2 8-hour weddings and not a single hiccup, not a glitch, not even any video delays, and I used a Trigger Finger with my VCI-100 to run it all off my Edirol. Proof that NI software works beautifully when you have a dedicated setup properly optimized for music (and only music!).

ps if you think it's voodoo, have you tried chicken blood? It's kind of an all-purpose voodoo cure-all, no? Ha ha.

Ok, sorry for the previous post, I was really at my wits end at the time and I consider it a blessing that I didn't start throwing things or worse.

Well, I haven't figured out the Traktorscratch rituals yet, why it works or not is still a mystery and I blame that on the fact that I just haven't used it enough times yet.

With the VCI-100 and Traktor LE, I seem to have figured out the proper sacrifices that need to be made in order to get things working.

I was getting frustrated because I had just bought the VCI-100 and was having problems that I just couldn't make any sense out of. I think I figured it out... After a long walk to let my blood cool, I was able to come back and get things working surprisingly quick... part of it was the fact that the program was opening with the "master volume" set at zero... that is kind of embarrassing but it's true, I was so distracted and frustrated that I couldn't see it...

... and I think the other main problem was the audio output assignments were not reloading to what I had set for when it was working. They were reloading to something similar, so when I was quickly checking everything, I thought they were ok...

My traktorscratch problems still need more experience. I don't have turntables these days, but when I get a chance to use it, it seems like I have to fiddle around for way too long before things start working. I never know WHY things start working, they just do. It is never a clear-cut issue of "oh, I just needed to push THAT button". It always seems mysterious and up to the whims of the Traktor ghosts. Because of that experience, I was more likely to judge the VCI-100/Traktor LE problems as something illogical and unsolvable. At the time, I was sitting and staring at my computer and I just could not figure out why there was no sound, it didn't make sense. Now I see that the problem was logical and solvable and therefore (hopefully) easily avoided in the future.

Thanks, Telly, for the chicken blood tip.

Dude you still haven't posted your system and specs, what are you running? I'm betting it's Windows, LOL.

Don't forget to smear the chicken blood all over the computer, the Audio8, and yourself. All over yourself.

yes, as Telly has asked, WHAT computer are you using?

    What platform?
    Processor speed?
    Operating system and version?
    amount of RAM?
Which version of Traktor Scratch (6 digits)?
installed the most recent NI USB drivers?
installed the newer NI Audio 8 Control Panel?
If on a Mac, have you 'repaired permissions' lately (Disk Utility is in Apps / Utilities folder)

    symptoms of your problems?

In other words, for any of us to help, you need to be WAY more specific than 'it doesn't work'

Dell Inspiron E1505, 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, Windows XP SP 2
    Traktor LE 3.3.1.010, TraktorScratch 1.2.0.010
    Vestax VCI-100
Audio 8 DJ, output wired into E-MU 1616m for speaker output.
I am not sure about the Audio 8 control panel or NI USB drivers... How do I check on that?

    Thanks.

Like I said, I think I figured out the VCI-100 issues... although I should confirm that I have the latest driver updates and whatnot.

The TS issues are still a mystery that I can't solve without access to decks. I have a feeling it has to do with what order I hook things up and boot up programs.

Quartz (or a PC user), can you point him in the right direction to find his Audio 8 control panel/driver version location?
