    Hi all,
when I install Komplete 8 Ultimate, the system asks me for a VST folder and this VST folder is listed in the Service Center, too. So I assume, that the path of the VST folder is part of the product activation.

What happens in the case I update my sequencer programm, i.e. from Cubase 5 to Cubase 6 and I move the VST.dlls to another folder.

Do I need to re-activate the product?

Thanks for answers and best regards

I don't think that moving the VSTis to a different folder would require re-activation. Komplete software Updates will probably look for the VSTi is folder where they were installed, not where you moved them.

    Some thoughts:
-- copying the VSTis will be better than moving them,
-- would you have Cubase 5 and 6 installed side by side?
-- or will Cubase 6 replace 5 completely?
-- does Cubase needs the VSTis in a particular folder?
-- can you not point Cubase 6 at your current VSTi folder?

    Hi DarkStar,
thanks for your reply. Here my answers:

-- copying the VSTis will be better than moving them,
yes, for sure - I would copy them

-- would you have Cubase 5 and 6 installed side by side?
on my studio pc I have now both systems side by side, but I am still using Cubase 5

-- or will Cubase 6 replace 5 completely?
The installation process (upgrade!) installs a completely separate program...

-- does Cubase needs the VSTis in a particular folder?
yes. Steinberg offers some plugins, too - and so you need to use the VST folder directly in the installation path. All what I could test is a Windows-link to the other folder...

-- can you not point Cubase 6 at your current VSTi folder?
    That's worth a test.
