I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to use VST System Link yet? Anyone using Kontakt with System Link, if so, how's it working for you and what setups are you using?

Just curious, because I'd really like to try it, but can't splurge on the extra computer/software right now.

    Thanks,

Hi buffy. Your post looks rather old - January unless I'm reading it incorrectly.

I'm curious about using system link too for a few NI programs but at this point in time don't even know if NI works with system link. I'll try for a new post somewhere on this forum and see where it leads.

    Regards

    Nigel

Hi Dbuffy..I am a successful user of v-stack>system link>KOntakt>and QLSO which uses Kompakt.Actually anything(including FX) thats VST can be used inside V-Stack.The latency with SL and V-Stack is REALLY good. There are a few bug that i hope stienberg will address with the next update, but overall for 50$ its amazing.Anything else, ask away..Rich

GOOD LORD THIS POST IS OLD!!! I had given up! I guess SystemLink just isn't that popular yet.

Well, good to hear that latency is low. If I could ask you:
    1) what are the bugs?
    2) What audio cards/cables are you using to hook Sys-link up?
    3) Do you use one computer just for VSTi's?
    4) How is that QSLO (I want the Bass Guitar one...)!?!

    Thanks for responding,

Hey duff, 1)The main bug that drives me crazy has to do with the way i work.Since i do alot of Orch. stuff with V-stack Im constantly auditioning notes in the key editor of SX by clicking on the midi note. With your samples coming from V-stack u can`t audtion the note just by clicking on it with your mouse ,u have to actually move the midi note.
2)Rme multiface on my main Daw into ECHO Gina on my v-stack machine.ADAT opticial system linked with SX.Its tight.
    3)VSTI on both comps.
4)QLSO is brilliant.I use it every day.I may get VSL one day,but its a bit overkill at this point, maybe the performance set.Hardcore bass sounds great.the DEMOs are pretty good.I want the PMI bosey, next he.. he...P.S V-stack IS popular with Orch. composers using QLSO cause u`d want multiple comps. runng the show..Rich

Awesome, thanks for the info. My brother's moving out here soon with his SX machine, so we're going to make Systemlink our #1 priority.

You know it. Still in Van - I was formerly in Ottawa for 10 years, though...couldn't take the winters anymore! I'm afraid I only got to T.O. a couple of times to play gigs, didn't get to see much of your fine city. Perhaps one day...Lord knows, you have a better music scene.

Okay, out I come. I live in Edmonton (where our winters are very mild), and I've been reading these forums daily for the better part of a year.

When I read Rich's post, I realized that the universe is a small and strange place. Why? Because Oliver Schroer's Restless Urban Primitive is playing in my CD player right now.

    Hey, Canuckleheads!

I'm afraid I don't know either of those guys...but you have to keep in mind I'm not a gigging musician right now, so I actually don't meet very many.

Sounds like the Oliver Shroer guy must be pretty good if he's catching on in Alberta! I'll keep an eye/ear out for those guys.

Edmonton has mild winters? I guess I'm thinking of Calgary, which I hear is brutal.

    Later,

CLoak, that IS bizzare , since I`m the guitarist in his band the "Stewed Tomatoes". Check out his 1st 2 albums. there rally fun,but his solo stuff is equally great. There should be a new Stewed Tomatoes album coming out shortly as we just did some great sessions. Glad u dig the music..all the best, Rich Pell

Edmonton is indeed freaking cold in winter. As we head into those dark and frosty months, I like to turn my denial into climate jokes. For the record, Calgary is cold. Edmonton is colder.

But for those kind souls who live outside Canada, I don't wish to perpetuate a stereotype here. No igloos. No, sir. Our summers are hotter than Hades, and spring and fall are beautiful. If they lasted longer than fours months total, I'd be tickled.

In any case, maybe Kontakt 1.3 will be released today and my life can be fulfilled. Something to keep me warm in the months ahead.

Rich - very cool that you play in the "Stewed Tomatoes". I am familiar with that catalogue as well. Next time you see Oliver, tell him I'm not totally heartbroken that he never answered my fan mail. Actually, I guess I sort of asked him to play on a recording of mine. Maybe he heard my music and was horrified.

    He wouldn't be the first.

How's this note for off-topic, anway? Take care.
