    I tried the link, http://www.wavesfactory.com,
but the versions they have of the free libraries like "Music Box" and "Clock" are only made for Kontakt 5 and later. I'm wondering where I can find the original versions they made for Kontakt 4 and earlier. I've been corresponding via email with Jesús Ginard, the head administrator of Wavesfactory, and he says that the original versions of the free libraries he makes are for Kontakt 4 and earlier. The trouble is, I'm not sure where to find those versions. I have the full version of Kontakt 4, specifically the latest update, Kontakt
4.2.4, on Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit build 6.1.7600.16385, and it seems like the "Music Box" patch, found in the "World" folder within the default Kontakt 4 Library that comes with the software itself likes to make Sonar 8.5 Producer
Edition crash when running Kontakt in the VST Plugin mode. what are the specifications of these clock and music box libraries? For example, are there
any MIDI CC's associated with parameters in the library? Things like "Chord"
(for making the sounds play in intervals like octave, third, fourth, fifth,
sixth, and the like, "Detune", "Gear Noise", "Key Wind", "Music Box Type", which
refers to "Lower Grace" and "Upper Grace" (Parameters found in the Music Box
patch in the Kontakt 4 library), "Music Box Sound", which refers to compressor
and limiter parameters found in the Music Box patch within the Kontakt 4
library, "Music Box Speed" (Referring to tremolo speed, made possible with the
Mod Wheel), Decay Time, Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Phaser, and the like? If these
are available, can they be accessed within the Synth Rack in Sonar, as well as via the Insert Controllers dialog box? I've been wanting to make a clock melody of a favorite song of mine, "Oh Ever In The Greening Spring", and that would be so cool if I could do it with the free Clock instrument. For example, is this the link to the original version of the Music Box library?

Here's a .zip file of all the minidumps, along with a second .zip file containing the Cakewalk Bundle.

I downloaded the WavesFactory music box patch and there are no controls for anything besides effects. There are two keys that are a winding noise and running noise (or Gear Noise). Other than that it is pretty basic which one would normally expect from a free library.

As for where to find the K4 version I could not help, and for the Sonar crash, I do not have Windows 7 or Sonar 8.5 to test... so cant help there either.

I would have thought that you would need to upgrade Kontakt, there aren't many libs around for below version 5.8 these days.

I'm not sure the administrators at Native Instruments would let me upgrade Kontakt for free. I mean, they did that once for me when I received Kontakt 4 as an upgrade from Kontakt 2. If it's a paid upgrade, I don't have the funds! So can anybody please explain why the "Music Box" patch in the Kontakt library makes the Kontakt VST crash, but works find in Kontakt Standalone mode?

It's probably an incompatibility between Kontakt and Cakewalk...

That can't be, since I can load all other Kontakt patches in Sonar. It's just that one that makes the Kontakt VST crash for some reason. Were you able to examine and analyze the Minidumps I sent in the .zip file?

Well if it works in standalone the logical conclusion, as Ed Points out, is a sonar issue.
It just crashes sonar? Any message?

From what I understand, it says something about "Error unhandled exception", which I'm not sure what that is. It seems the "Music Box.nki" file is the only one that makes that error. Other patches work just fine.

No, we cannot do that, only Kontakt developers can do that.

I think the only sure fire way to confirm it's an issue in Cakewalk only is to try loading that same NKI in another DAW (i.e. Reaper) and see what happens. I cannot test this since 1. I don't have Cakewalk and 2. I don't have Kontakt 4 factory library installed for years now.

I submitted a support ticket on July 20, and now I'm just waiting for an answer from one of the support specialists.

In the meantime you could really try the patch in another DAW...

The only DAW I have is Sonar. However, I wonder if Kontakt patch tests would work in a DAW like Audacity.

I think Audacity can only open effects plugins, not instruments. So that wouldn't work.

You can download a trial version of Reaper, it's not artificially hampered in any way, it only has a countdown nag screen when you open it. IIRC it also works decently with screen readers, if you install the OSARA extension, link here: https://reaperaccessibility.com/index.php/Getting_Started.

I somehow was only a little impressed by the sound of that one. That would be amazing if there were libraries that are backwards compatible with older versions of Kontakt.
