I'd love to see what the subject line suggests, kind of annoying to having to grid and set all my cues again. Anyone know of a way to do this yet, maybe via something like iFunbox?

THIS is my #TOP1 issues too (even more important than grid editor inside TDJ2) .. even more: as long we do not have this I will not use TDJ in productive at all. I have about 2000 songs, each one perfectly gridded and all have 4-8 hot cues !!... I also would never spend the effort (of weeks) to grid them all manually again.

Not having a meta data import (TDJ1 or TPro) is my final showstopper for TDJ2 now.

TDJ2 meta data is a closed shop in moment, i did some analysis, no import possible at all (neither iTunes file sharing, neither cloud, no collection.nml file etc) .. so I see no official solution for this problem (I am already thinking about some hacks to the internal database, but i do not see a official solution for this). We need to ask NI to work on this in near future.

Great question, thanks for posting !

Kalo: this is an absolute showstopper for me, too. I find it unbelievable that TDJ2 cannot read/import the beatgrids and cues of songs that were manually created in TDJ1. Talk about zero backwards compatability!!! Are they even interested in having people upgrade?

thanks for posting. I think the background is quite simple: NI team cannot imagine that there are professional user which work with TDJ. I even know resident DJs working with TDJ1 only .. most of them will never ever jump to TDJ2 without the option to import metadata (many of them have thousands of metadata). But I DO think the meta data import is on their roadmap for a later step in TDJ2.

And there maybe a technical reason why NI is shifting this into future: TDJ1 (and TPro) is using collection.nml to store meta data ... but the TDJ2 is on totally new architecture. TDJ2 stores the metadata in a (hidden) sql database (i do not want to post more details here) .. which is something totally different. Maybe NI does not want to spend the effort in converting the data .. which would be a pity. The crazy thing is: latest when they build TPro in new architecture they must do this anyhow .. so why not offer at least a one way import now ?

TDJ2 without the import of old meta data (from TDJ1 or TPro) is a NoGo for you, us and many user for sure. No professional user will ever spend weeks again to grid and hotcue thousands of songs .. and NI should trust in their own product .. a well made TDJ2 would be used from Pro user too ! .. so it would make lot sense if NI would spend this effort now, quite sure many TDJ1 user would migrate to TDJ2 ;).
