With regard to the sysex part, I am not sure to be honest, I already use a little program to deal with midi dumps. It does handle program changes and the Ren records all knob automation from the synth hardware no problem. Good midi I/O on the back too (with my set up, the clock is stable I have no worries with it). Me personally, I like it, but if you can, have a go on one first.

Damn, I had no idea that the MPC Renaissance could do that... Oh well, I'll see what the next Maschine update is going to bring.

I think that the next update of Maschine is not going to allow for people under 1.8 OSX to update for Mac users like they did with the new Komplete and Traktor.

It's going to piss off a lot of people both amateur and professional.

Come on, Maschine is advertised by NI as a production studio. The NI website says:

Full MIDI implementation with MIDI CC and multiple outputs is a must if the above quote is not to be false advertising...

I wouldn't call it false advertising as you can still use midi cables to control your synths but it would open up a couple new dimensions of work flow if MIDI CC control was available to the user.

Damn, I hope not. I'm already expecting the next update to be paid. Making it so it can't be used below 1.8 would be such a double punch.

Don't you mean old ways, why is it that people act like they never heard of basic midi on this forum?

The akai Ren is nearly double the price the whole thing is made of metal and is well made. But you don't have to use its inbuilt audio AD DA if you don't want too. If you prefer to use your own one you can no problem.

There is the akai studio, it's smaller (similar size to maschine) and it prices around the same as maschine and has mini sized midi I/O to drive external gear I your that way inclined. And again you can use any audio interface you choose

Hope that clears things up a tad

Plastic can be just as good as metal, people always asume when a product is made from metal it means its good or better than a plastic one. While it doesnt have to be at al....

And dont get me started about the studio lol that product is wack as hell.

I haven't really had a good play with Akais sound banks, I'm yet to go through them, and from what I can tell the sound bank is a plugin that host the sounds. For now I'm using the Akais built in interface, it sound good, but I have nothing to compare it against, cos I sold my Apogee and plan to get something better later down the track.
But overall the sound quality and sounds it came with sound good.
Heaps of sound pack for the akai can be found online from loop and sample sites.

Yeah man plastic can be as good as metal, and neither do I assume that having metal automatically make it better than plastic. I just like the feel of metal better than plastic. The only reason plastic gets used for these kind of products is because it cheap, and light weight clearing up room for a little more profit.

If you want to get started on the studio by all means go for it if you want. But my gripe with maschine is with their midi or lack of.

Make MASCHINE the centerpiece of your studio set-up.

With MASCHINE you can also control and sequence all of your external hardware instruments

IF MASCHINE IS THE CENTERPIECE OF MY STUDIO SETUP THEN I CAN SEQUENCE ALL MY EXTERNAL HARDWARE INSTRUMENTS (WITH THE LIMIT OF 16 CHANNELS) BUT CANT CONTROL THEM.

Plastic also makes it lighter and therefore easyer for on the road. Take that Denon for example its heavy has hell , yet has nothing more to offer than the S4 except that the mixer can be used "standalone" .
And clearing up more room for profit, nah, they coold also raise the price, the Pioneer at that time was a few hundred more.... (By now it has dropped like 600 in price lol)

Nah i wont go on the studio, to much to type lol

Ehm, I think without implementing MIDI CC messages NI's talk of Maschine being the centerpiece of a studio set-up, and being able to control external hardware is false advertising.

There is a reason why the MIDI spec calls it a Control Change message...

Without implementing CC there aint much control...
