weird behavior in logic 5.5

    I'm using Kontakt 1.2.1 w/ Logic 5.5 in OS 9.2.2. I have Kontakt set up so that it accepts multiple midi channels in. I seem to be getting the weirdest behavior. When I add a modulator (LFO, envelope) to an instrument, the volume for that instrument rapidly modulates up and down creating this almost granular effect. However, this only happens when I have highlighted any channel other than the Kontakt channel in the audio mixer window or arrangement window in Logic. When I have the Kontakt channel selected, the behaviour disappears.
    Anyone else experience this and/or have a solution? I did think it was that somehow Kontakt was getting MIDI cc data from some other channel, but I don't see it anywhere.
