something really weird is happening here:
i have a track which at some moment have a heavy bass tone and it plays solo with no othr sounds, just a heavy synth note.
well, i listen to that normally in my monitors and in my headphones, although the monitors seems not to be able to reproduce clearly the signal ( they are small ), but i do listen to it normally to the headphones, plus the waveform is totally ok, not signs of burnt elements.
The weird thing is that when i play the song from my powerbook's internal speakers when this part plays i cannot listen to nothing. Totally blank! i tried it to two other laptops (a macbook and a macbook pro)
    and it was the same.

So has anybody faced a problem like this? how can u explain it?

    thanx for reading

if the bass is a very low sine wave, then it is too low for your little internal speakers.

thank you sowari. yes this is it. i recognized that its impossible tp play frequencies below 100 hz
btw which peak and rms meters do u use as plug ins?
do you know any reaktor's ensembles which could do a detail job on that?

    thanx again

James Clark has made some nice things things, go:-

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=userlibrary_us&type=0&ulbr=1&plview=detail&patchid=6016

    also there is :-

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=userlibrary_us&type=0&ulbr=1&plview=detail&patchid=1388

btw, internal computer speakers are only good for hearing alert sounds and checking if there is audio coming out. they should never be used for judging a mix or any kind of serious listening.

of course if you are like Mattin you could do gigs using feedback between the in-built mic and internal speakers ;-).

hehe yes , you are right . Mattin is very often doing this.. ;-)
But something interesting would be to record the room's resonance but not from the in built mic.. anyways.
i ll check the links you wrote above.
and no i do not use the internal speakers for judging my mix.
although from my little experience sometimes by listening to the final mix from some cheap speakers ( e.g creative for computers) its really helpfull. for me its a matter of how much you know the response of the speakers. certainly some very good monitors offers detail which is perfectly good for deciding.
i just wanted to test if there was clipping in my track through the internal speakers ;-)

thank you very much for the links i am going straight to chk them out

ok...low frequencies modulate with higher frequencies...this can create sounds which sound like clipping on very small speakers, because those speakers cannot handle the frequencies.

    exactly.
i just downloaded Clark's peak meter. it looks good going to chk it out.
Since you said that, something more. i consider a track ready after listening to it from several speakers. But in some of them i do have troubles by this thing you describe above. And i do feel that my music can only be played through very good speakers.
For example car's stereo speakers canno handle the frequencies. But does this mean that the track has not been made properly? No.
I am always thinking of it, maybe if i get some very expensive monitors i will feel totally sure about the sound...
    thank you
