Weird K1 effect knobs problem

    Today I bought a new traktor kontrol x1. At first everything seemed to work fine, but then i noticed that strange problem with fx knobs. They all work from 0% to about 75% very precise, but from about 75% to 100%, they arent so precise anymore and it seems that they somehow jumps a few percents more when i turn the knobs within that range and are very non precise.

    I also have noticed that if I turn for example the second fx knob to about 75% and leave it there, and then when turning the first knob from 50% to 0%, the percents on second knob are jumping from 75% to about 81% or so, without touching the second knob. The issue apears on all knobs and all relations, for example turning 1st knob is affecting second, then turning second knob is affecting third etc. .. but it's only apearing if the knob is set to about 75%.. kinda weird :S

    I'm just wondering if anyone had same issue and if this is software related?.. even i doubt it is.. i think i just get defected x1 :S

    I tried this on traktor scratch pro 1.2.4 and 1.2.6 on 2 different computers. I'm using audio8dj and x1 in native mode. (dunno yet how to properly assign that knob to fx in midi mode to try that out). I recalibrated the controller many times but it didn't help.


    Can anyone help? Maybe someone from NI?

    PS: I also tried to register the product and contact customer support, but it refuses my serial number (it also refuses my audio8 serial number, kinda weird..).

    PS2: I'm from Slovenia and ordered the product from Germany (thomman.de) so it'll be nice to fix the problem without sending it back =)

    little update on my problem .. i imported midi mapings for traktor scratch pro from the original X1 cd, and now when in MIDI mode, the problem is still present.

    So the problem exist even if i'm in midi mode or in native mode.

    I also tried midi mode in ableton live, and the problem seems to exist there too, so i guess it's a hardware failure :S ..

    anyone ?

    a lot of people seem to have that problem here lately :-/

    have you tried recalibrating it?


    where did you find your serials? i tried registering my stuff yesterday and i couldn't find a serial for neither of my stuff

    I tried to recalibrated many times, NI support response on my email that probably my unit is defected .. sending it back tomorrow.

    I can't register my stuff either, but @NI they said that the serial number is the one with barcode on the back of every unit, so NITK*****.. is the right one

    Same problem.
    Contacted through the NI support. Record video with the problem.
    Asked to send them the defective controller:)
    I'm from Russia, it is a problem for me. I think in the near future repair or replace and send back.

    Wow I thought i'm alone there =)

    I bought x1 from Thomann, but i'm wondering if it's good to send them back, they might replace it with another faulty unit (seems that there's a lot of them with this issue) or it's better to send it to NI directly to get it repaired .. what do you think ? =)

    I'm 99% sure that they will send it to NI so you can just cut the middleman

    this was the case with my akg headphones i don't think they do it differently with ni hardware

    i hope they gonna replay me asap, coz the last thing I've expected "fail" out of box....I've also bought audio 8, gonna try it tomorow....hope its gonna work well :S

    First thing I checked after receiving my unit about an hour ago. Sounds like there would/should be some official statement regarding this issue.

    NI just response that they recieved my faulty controller and they'r confirming it's defective. Replacing it with the new one .. seems like there's a lot of problems with newer series ofX1 ..

    did it take 3 months for a new controller?
    I purchased this to take overseas in a couple of months and can't be bothered to worry about broken units, shipping and returns before I leave. Think i'll just get my money back.

    any idea what batch of X1's is affected by this? What serial number range?
    I was about to purchase one, like right today (gig tomorrow), but then saw this thread...
    If we can figure out the serial number range of the affected batch, I (and others) could check in the shop, and buy the right one...
    any insight?

    I don't get that problems...and I got No ploblem on both of them

    I just want to know the big hole on backside ....First time i think it made for use with Standthat NI design for X1....but don't see anything release until now

    and I surely that X1 cannot Register product not like the Audio interface
    No Idea why NI don't do that

    Contrary to what the moderator of this forum Karlos Santos said in this thread: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110771 , I quote "This is a known issue and can be resolved after NI analysis", the support team deny that the issue exists and is quite spread (at least 4 threads on this forum + a few I've came across on other forums, including djtechtools), I quote: "I am not aware of this issue, nor that series of our products are defect"... hmmm....
