Weird K1 effect knobs problem

    BUMMER!

    I purchased an X1 less than a month ago. I had noticed the problem but have not really had a chance to work with the X1 very much since I bought it. I checked last night and confirmed that yes, I do have the same problem. Seems there is a dead, glitchy spot right at the 75% mark on all effects knobs. If I put them all at 75% I can then move one effects knob and all of the effects stutter back and forth.

    I submitted a ticket last night and am still waiting on a reply.

    This sucks because I have some big shows I wanted to use this thing at. I do love the unit other than this major problem.

    FAIL!

    Question for people who have submitted tickets:

    How long did it take NI to respond? Have you shipped them off and how long to get a replacement? I'm assuming/hoping the replacements don't have the same problem?

    well they respond with ticket in one day and the next day i sent the controller from slovenia to germany which takes about 4 to 5 days.. they recieved my controller on wednesday .. now i'm still waiting for a new one, will reply when it arrives.

    It's been a week since I sent my ticket. I haven't heard back so i'll go with another brand thank you.

    I am coming up on a week and have not heard anything. I'm beginning to get upset about this. I bought this controller to use, live. I tried using it at a gig last Saturday and the problem was persistent and totally not acceptable. I have gigs coming up and would really like to have an operational unit. These are marketed as professional controllers for performing dj's. What gives NI?

    Finally heard back from NI. They requested I call them (not a toll-free #). Took a couple of tries and I finally got support. They are having me ship the unit to have it tested and will replace/repair. Estimated 2 weeks is what they say.

    kind of a hassle, but at least they are taking care of it.

    Best case scenario: It comes back replaced or fixed, no problems.
    Worst case: It comes back not fixed and I have to go through all this again.

    grumblegrumblegrumble.

    I have to say that GC offered to send me a new one before shipping the old one out. I was about to get a different controller but took their offer for a replacement. Got the X1 in today and it works fine. Very glad I don't have to send another one in for a refund.

    thanks for the idea space monkey.

    I called the vendor I purchased from and he's going to try and get it replaced for me.

    I STILL have not heard back from NI support. All I have to say is thanks for nothing NI!

    This definitely changes my master plans of eventually getting a Maschine and going with Komplete. Hopefully I can get a functioning X1 as I do like the unit and I'm not going to throw away all the time I've invested in Traktor, but I will not be investing any more time or money in any other NI hardware.

    Ableton, here I come!

    I recieved my new unit today .. everything fine now .. with little issues with previous one, it's still the best traktor controller out there =)

    two weeks to the day that I submitted the ticket and still have not received a shipping label.

    frustration turns to anger.

    I'm glad you guys are getting taken care of though.

    I called them again today and was told their shipping process had changed so I could mail it at my expense if I wanted to . I'm still waiting to hear if the vendor will exchange it for me.

    really big gig this weekend and booked solid all the way through October.

    grumble.

    Found A Simple Workaround For This Defect!

    Hey guys. Ive been having the same problem but I just found a simple workaround. I still plan on getting a new unit but for now I can confidently use my defected one with no problems.

    AS LONG AS 1 OF THE 8 KNOBS, ANY 1, IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT, THE OTHERS WILL WORK 100 % SMOOTHLY.

    This is the case for my unit. Hopefully this also works for all of you guys that are having this problem.

    The defect only seems to rear its ugly head when all the knobs are turned. As long as any 1 or more knobs is at the 0 point (full left) the others work fine.

    If you want to turn a knob but its the only knob you have at full left, just set any other one you are not using to full left first. Its slightly annoying but with my effects setup its easy for me to have at least one knob all the way left.

    Please let me know if this solves the problem for you guys as well! I took my Traktor Kontrol on its first live run in a club last night and I absolutely murdered it. I was actually opening for New York's BORIS and I couldn't have performed better. I love this product and am so glad I found this workaround.

    Yo, my Kontrol X1 has got the same problem. What Russiantank says worked for me too..

    I also went to my reseller with it. They swapped my faulty X1 for a new one. Now I hope that this one does not get faulty. If so, i probably contact NI directly for a repair.

    Still it's the perfect controller...

    mine does it as well

    tried maxing out all 8 knobs and suddenly all knobs behave very very weird...

    NI - i think we need a firmware update!

    got a call and an e-mail from NI today.

    They are shipping me a new, tested unit next-day mail!

    and they also sent a shipping label for the buggy unit.

    YAY!
