    The Dogs of Kore

I love this comment :) Maybe this is even worse than that, because we all own a clone of the dog...

We bought the dog called Kore because we were assured that he was in perfect health and from a very good pedigree....We paid for the extras and then the vet says to us "It's time to put your dog down 'cos we have enough of your money" :(

I think that the very least NI can do to show some support for the users who they have well and truly shafted here,is to give them an x64 bit update with Multi Core support...

HERE'S ANOTHER NOVEL IDEA...WHY DON'T THEY LISTEN TO OUR VOICES FOR A CHANGE ?

When they don't like what we have to say, they just shut down the post ! Nice one folks..

This little exercise is going to prove to be a very damaging PR exercise for NI ..

The Dogs of Kore just won't lie down here and play dead...NI are going to hear us barking - all the way to Berlin :) Woof woof...ajw

I'm barking as loud as any at the moment (or would 'howling' be a better word?). But I'm prepared to wait a few days now. This has all blown up very quickly and may have caught NI by surprise. Keir says he's going to get some info for us and I genuinely think he's trying to sort out as much as he can.

Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt (and, perhaps, a little support in a difficult job at a VERY difficult time). I'm not suggesting that we forget anything but it may be wise for us to show a little temperence for a few days.

"The Dogs of Kore"! LOVE it. :_

Thanks for the understanding and patience.

I'm speaking to the development team now and as I mentioned earlier I'm aiming to get some more information to you early next week. I will say though that it has been a very difficult decision to make at this end. The development team will be able to give you insight into this along with some answers to other questions that have been raised so far.

With regard to what's happening next, the team are currently working on the two maintenance updates which have been mentioned. The first will integrate the the latest engine versions of Kontakt 4 and Reaktor 5 and is scheduled for autumn. The second is due shortly after and will provide 64bit plug-in versions of Kore 2. We'll also continue to support Kore from a technical support point of view.

Although I appreciate this won't be of interest to all of you, I have seen a few posts referencing a possible crossgrade discount on Maschine. There will be one. If you own the full version of Kore 1 or 2 you'll be able to get Maschine for around €400 until the end of the year.

Along with the info coming next week, I'm also relaying all the constructive feedback from the relevant threads (and my PM inbox) to the team. I'm working on a document that I'll pass on as a priority in the next few days.

Thankyou Keir for keeping us updated and conveying our concerns to NI.

Wondering a bit about the timescale here (given that engine updates done manually work already) but will wait for more info next week.

    64bit end of Year?

    400€?

This has to Be a joke! that is 800€ After buying Kore2 lately. I wouldve bought machine instead in the half Price Sales Time Frame.

I am very very angry and upset now!

    Yep,

first also a thank you to Keir,
seems the timing for your job is a little unfortunate...

I am really curious to actually hear something from the developers here in this forum !
I think this will be the first time ever...
But please don't come along with only such sentences like
"it has been a very difficult decision..."
As I wrote in a prior post, NI actually stopped development on Kore 2 long ago,
    but without telling us !
One could also say, that they never really developed it at all !
(I don't count the "engine" updates - see Kymeias comment above)
That's to me the most annoying thing to this matter,
that I feel like NI has put us down for a fool.
Can you, NI, convince me, that I am wrong with my opinion ?

If you look at Maschine, how many Updates and new features have been
released in quite a short time ?
But you haven't been able to at least implement a fraction of that into Kore ?
Even the MIDI-Mode for Kore may have just been a by-product,
they needed it for Maschine anyway, didn't they ?

    RE: Crossgrade discount:
NI, you must be kidding, aren't you...

Welcome Back Keir...Please fasten your seatbelt :)

Welcome back Keir...You may want to fasten your seatbelt and be advised that there may be some severe turbulence up ahead :)

I am sure that all of the users are sympathetic to the fact that you have been put in an "unfortunate" position by NI,but "as our man on the inside" - our direct link to the inner sanctum of NI - we have to relay our displeaure about this decision to those bean counters through you...

So please understand that our comments are not intended as a personal attack on you at all...

This is an open forum and it is important that we are allowed to express our feelings openly...Otherwise - what would be the point of it existing at all ?

I have a feeling that this has been a PR disaster for NI and judging by the very strong feeling on these forums, the bean counters at NI will have a few less beans to count in the future...

We wish you all the best - but the jury is still deliberating on the fate of the bean counters :)

Very true indeed,I own every ni product and if this is what they are gonna do i swear i´ll sell it all, even maschine. If maschine has been such a sucessfull product there would be soon an alternative from someone else maybe better and with the reputation that Ni is getting....

I know there are other priorities but having to wait until the end of the year for 64bit Kore is a bit piss poor.

Semi-humorously... will there be any 'anguish payment' for those who already own Maschine but have forked out on Kore, multiple soundpacks and time?

Will wait to see what comes next week before commenting any further. I understand that every dog has it's day etc but I think finding out through someone's blog post wasn't the best way for this to have gone.

Mummy...my core is rotten now...It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth...Don't worry darling...just throw it in the bin and I will get you something better from another shop !

What we are dealing with here is the "heart " of the sytem...The "core" - well at least that's what NI always told us...

The're not just removing an arm or a leg...They've always do that from time to time when they slice and dice...No Sir..this is the heart of the "NI integrated sytem"

Like many of the Kore users here have stated - I DON'T WANT MASCHINE ! If I had wanted Maschine,I would have bought it...What I paid for when I signed up to Kore was the heart of an integrated system...

HOW ABOUT LISTENING TO US FOR ONCE NI..WE BOUGHT YOUR PRODUCTS SO SURELY THERE SHOULD BE SOME DEGREE OF CONSIDERATION GIVEN TO US IN THE EQUATION ? WE'RE NOT FEELING THE LOVE RIGHT NOW :(

DB... understand you don't want Maschine but it is more than you give it credit for.

I also understand that folk are upset about the situation but I guess as a company NI have to make a certain amount of profit on a product for it to be viable and if it isn't doing that then well, this happens.

Yeah we know that...But we're just lobbying on our own behalf to make sure that NI gives us some consideration in those "official words"...

It's all politics Senor and it's important that we shake and stir very strongly at this point in time :) If I had their direct phone numbers,I'd be ringing them at 1AM - 2AM - 3AM - 4AM and even at 5 ! After that,I can't count too good :)

Most of their decision will be already cast in stone and they will just throw us a few scraps and some dog biscuits to placate us a little...

But if we growl loud enough and make out like we're going to rip them to shreds - then they might just throw us a big fat juicy bone :)

That's the desired outcome here Mr Losan...

Nothing will change here. Mate Galic and Daniel Haver will hide and tell Keir or thomas what to say. They will offer discounts and an apology. I wonder if James waker hall left? His name is in the credits for kore 2. He's the product designer for maschine. He does the real work, while others follow his lead. As long as NI has James walker hall they will be fine. Maybe the developers for kore can't perform the high quality of work james. When he leaves maschine will be the quality of akai products nowadays.

Can I suggest a middle path between the NI bashing, and accepting what NI is offering us? The crossgrade offer of 400EUR is more expensive than I can get the full license Maschine from resellers, let alone the EDU version I'm entitled to as a student. I also think it unreasonable for NI to declare Kore as 'feature complete'.

    My suggestions:
    (a) Have an official community vote for a small number of features USERS want to consider Kore 'feature complete', to be implemented by NI.

    or

    (b) Open source Kore (following the 64bit update), and let the users do the hard work to add features they want.

With option (b) Kore can live on, with non-proprietary hardware, and perhaps even continue NI's market for selling Kore Sound packs.

I rather wish there was a 'like' button that I could press for findbuddha. :)

    (a) would be reasonably splendid.

Do we have people with the skills required for (b)? I know that there are a few planet-sized brains around here but aren't we first and foremost musos? I'd be happy to be disabused of this assumption. Then, of course, ther'd be the problem of 'what do we want'? And "No. I don't want that. I want that'.

I still 'like' the suggestions though. I'm hoping that NI will have a rethink. It's not too late.

Ok, now we're talking discounts - well I have 36 NI products registered plus some 3rd party, what kind of wonderful business are you offering me? Well, I think its time to say that NI wont be getting anymore orders from me.

We all know that, but we are in lobbying mode right now - making sure that NI hears our voices loud and clear...

We also know that the final decision has already been made, but it is important to push hard right now so that the corporate clowns at NI understand that this decision will come with some serious repercussions..They should also have come to realise at this point, that their corporate image has been severly dented by this decision...

My support for NI has always been unequivocally 100% positive, but this unfortunate decision has changed all of that forever...

Here's a link from a previous post...It's important that the lobbying is done BEFORE the official statement is released...Not after..
