The guy who made this has a pretty decent formant oscillator i which i want to use but if you look at the inputs it seems unnecessarily complicated.

Can anyone explain what all the inputs are?

    Yes.

It only has 2 controls but if you look at the core osc module and what goes into it, wtf...?

If you mean "i" and "v" inputs, they are event inputs that form waveform buffer (or array). Array (or waveform buffer) has 2048 elements (samples). "i" stands for index (position) in this array and "v" stand for its value. This buffer forms a wave which you hear. F1 and F2 are frequency inputs, "amn" is amount of frequency modulation. "i" and "v" values go from display where you draw your wave. It is very complicate mechanism and I think you should at least have fundamental DSP knowledges to describe whole process. But what exactly do you want to know and why do you need to know it?

Then I have two suggestions for you - you either have to move this whole structure with your settings or (which is better one and I can't help here) understand what's going on in each part of instrument and make yours. I would start from just playing with these inputs and values and see how it sounds in the end. This should help.

    Thanks for the info Smirnov.

It's far too complicated for me to de-construct and import. I didn't realise the waveform bit was part of it.

I've found a very good formant filter, which possibly has more scope for modulation, with envelopes and lfo's and such.

No problems. BTW, did you find it in UL? I'm curious.

    VOWELS.ENS

It's pretty good, it's got a mouth dial that cycles thru ah-eeh-oo etc, size, tone and other controls.
