    Hi,

So the XYS looks a lot like Rene, which could have me thinking it should work differently than it should. When I patch it up to my physical eurorack oscillators, it doesn't seem to work very well. I can get a couple knob ticks worth of pitch changes then everything seems out of range?

Has anyone ran into this issue and resolved it?

    Thanks in advance.

This simple set up worked for me, sequencing dpo lovely.Have you calibrated the pitch cv out to your osc ?
    hope this helps

The screenshot is helpful for verifying that I have that much right.

So Im guessing that the calibration process is where I'm failing somehow.

I attached screenshots for all of the steps here

    1. Created a simple XYS ensemble on the Reaktor track in Ableton. Sent it's output to my extended out, which is a MOTU Ultralite. That cable is going to the v/oct in on one of my oscillators

    2. Created another track in ableton called Reaktor Audio In which is receiving the oscillators sound and routing that to the above track. The track named Monorocket is for monitoring the sound

    4. From there I'm running the calibration on the Pitch/CV block, and I've posted screenshots of both full and half ranges. Each time I can hear the oscillator tuning changing...but barely :/ You can see from the screens below the range that gets calibrated is kind of weird.

I notice that you haven't connected a gate,if your feeding your osc direct to reaktor, ie not thru a vca then you don't need to. The other thing to check is the audio path from reaktor to your osc, all volumes should be at unity gain( check motu control panel for settings)
I don't use motu but you may need special cables, muff wigglers forum has many a thread about this.
Also try different positions of the tuning on your Osc and recalibrate
Your screen shots show a small range between max and min, you should get 4+ octaves shown. This implies that it's not calibrating correctly.

Thanks. Your comment about needing special cables got me thinking about the voltage output (not sure why).

Anyhow I played with it for a minute and

    1. Increased the volume output of the Reaktor VST in Ableton

    2. Then I increased the volume output of the Reaktor track (first picture is before, second is after)

And now I'm getting a much larger range

    Thanks!

One other thing to check is the output level of the audio out on the motu, on my fire face there are settings for +4,-10 etc , these will change the level going out, trail and error but id start with the loudest.
the cables are to avoid the balanced outputs i.e. they only connect the tip(id check this...memory?) just using a mono jack plugged in to a balanced output interferes with the signal
    anyway glad its getting better

I had the exact same issue sending anything from Reaktor to my Eurorack via the Expert Sleepers ES-3/ES-6. Indeed it had to do with the volume of the signal. What really worked for me was to use my soundcards software to create a preset that had unity volumes for my ADAT channels and save that for whenever I am sending/receiving signals to and from Reaktor and Eurorack. I don't really use my ADAT channels for anything else, so this was really handy.

Sadly, soundcard software is a bit hit and miss, but I've used MOTU's interface before, and you should have no problem doing the same.

I'm glad you posted this, I just picked up some expert sleepers modules and ran into the problem again. Have you tried setting the reaktor vst volume to max, and then attenuating just the pitch volume through a mixer or attenuator block?

I have with varying success but 90% of the time I'm running Reaktor Standalone. From the experience I've had in the past 6 months, I would say unity gain from your ADAT tracks is the signal the modular is expecting from your digital sources. I could be wrong, but it feels like it provides the most consistency between the digital conversion and the actual analog signals.
