There is more than enough discussion of technical issues on this forum, so I thought it might be interesting and more positive to start a thread about how you've been using Guitar Combos. What music have you made? What tones have you dialed in? Which of the Combos do you prefer the most? Would you mind posting some links to your recordings or a screen shot of your favorite settings? What kind of guitar are you playing? How long have you been playing? Has anyone played live with Guitar Combos?

I want to take this thread to describe my affection for the Combos.
As a “home guitarist” I began using emulated amps with the NI Combos. Later I made the upgrade to the software edition of GuitarRig 2 and GuitarRig 3.
Of course, GR3 is an amazing piece of software with great sound and possibilities, of course I´m looking forward to version 3.1 and later.
But the curiously the Combos never leaved my hard disk. I love the simplicity, I love the nice interface, I love to use the “small cutlery” (don´t know if there is a correct translation for the german phrase “kleines Besteck”). With GR I often play with the modules, tweaking knobs here and there, searching for the perfect sound, which I don´t need…with the Combos I concentrate on playing the guitar.
I use the AC and Twang with my Telecaster. There are 3-4 sounds and a few variations (clean to crunch, little reverb) which work perfectly for my taste. I happily recognized that NI didn´t drop the Combos, the tapedeck was an important integration. And finally with the installation patch I get the Combos on my Leopard-Mac.
I don´t know, if NI ever improved the algorithms, for my taste some gained sounds have too much “noise”.

Okay, personally I don´t think that there will be much room for the development of the combos. The focus seems to be on GR exclusively. It would be nice if I am wrong and could see the following improvements ;)

    - the implementation of a Hi Q mode, reducing noise
    - possibility to hide the metronome,
    - the possibility to integrate 1-3 software stomp boxes
    - new combo(s), maybe HiWhite Box, Citrus Box or Bassman Box

    Best regards
    Stefan

Yes, I too would like to be able to hide the metronome. I find the constant flashing/counting distracting. But overall, I have a lot of fun with Combos and really like the simplicity as well. As a 34 year old beginner with just over a year under my belt, I am not sure I can justify getting Guitar Rig 3 just yet. The software-only version price for Combos owners is a great deal, but the cost of the foot controller drives the total price out of my league for what I am doing right now.
