I am a bit confused what the direct from disk feauture in 1.2 does..Is this only to read Akai.Emu formats from a cd? Or to help read all files from your HD better?

DFD is a feature that allows you to play instruments without having to load them completely into your computers memory. If you play a note, it's able to quickly read the corresponding wave file from your hard drive and play that back immediately - Directly From Disk. Since it can play the file from the disk, it doesn't have to rely as heavily on memory.

As such, DFD isn't about the format of the instrument. And I don't think it'll work from CD as those drives are way to slow compared to HD's. DFD really requires as fast HD.

I guess DFD works with every instrument file Kontakt can read.
