the hidden folder was created in the same directory i was adding samples to an instrument from "__NI_SMPL_ADD__", and contained versions of all of my samples with the file extension ".nov" ...

What are the folder and files for, and if i move my instrument to another location (i used patch only / relative addressing) do i have to move this folder along with and keep it in the same relative path?

This is K2 latest with CubaseSX3 latest on WinXP SP2 ... Thanks

    hi,
in my opinion you can simply throw them away. These files are created as you 'view' a sample (i.e., depict a sound as a picture of a waveform. Normally sound is not something you can 'see', Kontakt and Battery need these file to allow for a pictorial representation of a sound). I consider it as annoying that they are created but not deleted after closing an instrument or battery kit: I like to keep my hard disc for samples as defragmented as possible. I defragment my hard disc on a "directory basis", so for each additional file the entire directory structure of tons of gigabites has to be shifted forward to make space!

BW is right. You can trash NOV files. Kontakt will recreate them if it needs them. They're supposed to be invisible; not sure why yours aren't. But they're tiny and harmless. They are analysis files that Kontakt uses internally.
