Jahrome, could you explain exactly how you sampled into the SP when you had it?

The vintage modes will not make a crappy or mediocre sample sound good. As you noticed it may even sound worse.

You still have to feed it a good sample. All it does is add a touch of warmth and grit if you feel it is too clean. Like I said, it's the SP mode that shines and pitching it gives it more grit and warmth. It won't turn a weak sample into gold and just like a real SP, it does not always sound good on everything. Some samples just sound better clean.

Have to agree here. I've been using the vintage modes heavily as of late (going for that gritty portishead like sound) and I have to say they do their thign admirably. I tend to go for the gritty sound. JAHROME sounds like he expects a clean output if thats the case then you totally missed the point of vintage mode. It adds warmth to the sample by introducing artifacts to the sample. A good sample that is sampled correctly will sound a bit warmer when using SP mode, less so with the MPC60 which is better for drums, imo because it introduces a "snap" to drums. The SP mode is great on pitched samples. If you are going for that 90's hip hop sound or want to introduce some warmth to another wise very clean sample vintage mode is there as an option. Don't use it otherwise if you think sounds like crap. Its there as an option, you don;t have to use.

You know I've seen Jahrome on this forum basically submarine bashing Maschine, which is cool if thats his thing. The annoying thing is when he goes on to this forum asks for a feature or spouts some nonsense and then gets all uppity when someone disagrees with him.

Umm...then I am talking about the "crappy and mediocre" sample that came in Maschine's library. I already posted the name of the kit I used. Try it yourself and report your findings here.

As far as Maschine..you say I am bashing it because I make feature requests and give my opinions. But if you spend all your free time away from Maschine in this feature request forum...the perception is that 1) You are unhappy with Maschine and want more, or 2) You want to defend it because all these feature requests will give naysayers ammo to use against you in a Maschine versus XYZ debate.

First off. I use Maschine on a daily basis as its my personal policy to at least work on a beat once a day to keep me motivated. Second, who the hell are you to comment on what I do with my free time? I don't comment on what you do with your free time. Frankly, I don't care what you do. Third I don't care about these naysayers I don't care about the MPC, or the MV. I use Maschine, I'm on a Maschine forum. If I wanted to use an MV or an MPC I would have bought one. Its not like I don't have the cash. The reason I bought Maschine even with all of its initial flaws (and it had plenty at release, especially for those of us who got it earlier than the release date) it fits my work flow better. I make music with a computer. It's nice that Maschine lets me get away from my computer screen while I make music but at the end of the day I want to look at my nice 27" screen (because I'm blind as a bat) to do what software does best. I don't want to page through a whole bunch of menus just to get to an option that I can mouse to. Even navigating through Maschine's hardware is far more streamlined. I'm not defending Maschine. In fact when released I was on this forum giving constant criticisms of the product and the way NI was handling it at the time. Look at my post history. What I don't like however is your constant subversive attacks on Maschine disguised as feature requests, when all you are saying is make Maschine work like an MPC. When someone says anything against your opinion then you get all upity about it and start posting nonsense.

This is quite normal behaviour for Jahrome. He is a well known **** on a few forums. He knows it too!

    Getting back to Maschine.....

As I wrote twice before already....run the Maschine drum kits I identified already through the vintage modes and tell me what you think.

could a mod please clean this request thrad up, as the last page or so does not add to this request buthas simply become a place of diccusion and arguement.

opinions on vintage modes etc, this stuff belongs on the main forum and not in the feature request thread.

let's stop the bickering. I've seen jahrome on many forums over the years and no offense jahrome but you really seem to hve a tendency to invite angered debates usually directed at the way you post.... Let's stay with the topic at hand instead of discussing everyones personl lives. Bottom line is this. What samples you use mean diddly squat the emulation of these modes is in fact just that. An EMULATION not filtering and adding noise. I have a/b the emulation sampling from the same record on through the same nixer on both an sP and maschine and it is infact very close (the one major difference I believe lies with my computers audio interfaces converters vs the sP. Converters) but I can tell u they r very close especially when using the low and the high settings. And if it is useless to u I would ask u to be more specific as to what u would want it to sound like. To be honest I use it very sparingly not because of the sound but rather it has an application it is best suited for and that is not really applying it to everything. Some loops sound great with it others just not so. Same as when I was using an sP or even my asR. So please if u want to help maschine grow as I am sure u do. Provide constructive critisim so it can be further improved.
