I have a BCD-3000 external controller that I run with Traktor Scratch Pro and was wondering, does anyone know of any other uses for midi signals? Like if I wanted to have shortcuts or macros, is there a way to do it with the midi signals coming from the mixing board?

You can use them in most VJ softwares like Resolume, Aestesis etc. and also in some video editing software allowing real time controls. Actually, you can use them for anything controllable digitally as long as you have a way to forward and interpret the signal. I'm quite sure that you could control a model train network for example with the right software/hardware combination.

You can also use it to turn on and off your lights, TV, radio, pc, etc etc if you have the right things for it. One of my old teachers has his house hooked up to midi so damn near everything in his house he controls using MIDI which is madd funny.

Sometime ago I made a small program which let you control your mouse via Korg's nanoPad:

You can literally do anything with MIDI messages using translating programs as Bome's MIDI translator.
