    lol.

i agree with you except one thing:
a 160 bpm track can be used and mixed with a 80 bpm track - it just depends on the *athmosphere*.

mims and t-pain in your example go well, both tracks being more smooth than pushing.

    p.s.:
i dunno for the states, but here in germany, *black music* is used as genre name. it includes usually r'n'b and sometimes reggae/ dancehall and maybe even soul & funk.
it is also used to differ a bit from the baggy pants wearing *hiphoppers* that are usually pretty young.

or in other words: expect an air of reefer and baseball cap wearing headz on a hiphop party, where you can listen to dead prez, 36mafia, wu-tang etc., but on a black music party there will be only rihanna, pussycat dolls and maybe kanye west - and maybe a second floor with house music.

and presumably more pretty women ;)

He's the house DJ and he's been doing it for a while now.

I also forgot to say that: he usually goes from genre to genre without doing it properly.

For example, the other night he was playing hip-hop and everything...and the club was packed. He then hits the break button on the hip-hop and cues up some MERENGUE. After this...the people who my brother and I were with just left. That sucked so much we just... had to leave.

Another thing he does is mixes using only channel faders. He says it's easier than crossfading but he sucks at it.

I also remember the night I wanted him to play my remix "The Way I Get It Shawty" and he cues it up in his headphones (This Is Why I'm Hot is playing) and listens...and says it's too fast. I wish I would've said "Well for you that's no problem right? I mean you can mix a 80 BPM song with just about anything" but I didn't... so I told him that whenever he gets to The Way I Are to play it. When it came down to this, I did NOT let him play it. I got on it instead and cued it up myself because I didn't want him to screw it up. Before the song even ended, he cut to Crank That (Soulja Boy) (140 BPM on a 114 BPM) without even worrying about mixing it...and it pissed me off soooooo much that I felt like punching him. Oh well...

ok, finally here some possible answers to the original question....

for all mixes i used the instrumental loop at the end of the track.
with cue points etc. it's very easy to bring that instru part directly after the hook or whenever you like.

    the more tension mix
project pat - raised in the projects

    the cool down mix
devin the dude - lil girl gone (works surprisingly well, but is for a bar or lounge)

    the charts mix
lil jon - what u gon do (sure shot)
young dro - shoulder lean (especially cool, because they say something with *2steppin* in the hook)

i hope that brang some ideas! :)

Chapel Hill North Carolina. The place is on the famous (I guess) Franklin Street on UNC Campus. lol...you wouldn't want to. When I was in Florida man....omg the one club I went to there in South Beach, called "Cameo".

"Located in an historic Art Deco movie theater, Cameo Nightclub is divided into a 10,000 square foot dance room and a 6,000 square foot glass enclosed VIP area upstairs. A catwalk around the second floor perimeter provides space for bottle service with a view."

Yes... it was a very awesome club and if you're ever in South Beach, GO TO IT lol. When you compare clubs in Miami to the clubs here, the clubs here look like birthday parties compared to Miami.

"Let me see you bounce right to left and let your shoulder lean
Let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Ay, get it right, two step and let your shoulder lean, let your shoulder lean, just let your shoulder lean
Just let your shoulder lean". It's close enough though.

What that one DJ does though, is he loops This Is Why I'm Hot in like the middle of 2 Step and it matches perfectly. The only thing is that he SUCKS at going from 2 Step to Mims... he lets 2 Step end 5 seconds before TIWIH chorus.

It's really a hit or miss kinda thing. If there was a goddamn instrumental for the remix 2 Step, I would remix it so that it's a fade ending...would be like 1900 times better.

what would you remix? let the acapella fade into the instru part or the whole track fade? if the latter than loop the last hook ;)

    2 step remix

I would have to agree with willie japan. It would depend on where I would want to take the crowd. I could go with some snap music, some bounce music, some booty shackin or some classic hip hop or anything. Tempo will not always lead you in the right direction. But if I just had to pick a song at a split second and the crowd was already jamin to the 2 step remix, then I would play Crank That by Soulja boy. Sorry to respond to this so late. Native Girl is right not to many people spin "black" music in here. Also when asking about 2 Step you always have to say DJ Unk because 2 step is a style of music. (example; step in the name of love, wifey by next to name a few)

Been there two or seven times and yeah, really nice place. If you're ever in Miami again, check out Space, Nocturnal, Mansion, (and there're tons of other little joints too, but I don't go out much) and if you can find one, check out a CUTLER RIDGE jam thrown by CUTLER RIDGE.

Those guys really throw it down whenever they're around.

Plenty of debauchery and good tunes to make you feel like you're exactly where you should be.

    ;)
