I didnt follow the event or any of the releases and I had searched for, but didnt find, any formal write-ups or articles on some of the bigger releases at NAMM. So for those who did follow... did any releases perk your interest? Are any actually affordable? IF you have any links to some post-analysis or something definitely share here.

I dont see what the big fuss over 1.6 is right now... I just appreciate a company that is responding to the community, albeit not EVERYTHING that EVERYONE wanted EXACTLY when they wanted it... I mean 1.5 as shipped has kept me pleasantly surprised and content. I have only really ran into a desire for timestretch and some copy/paste abilities in the scene editor. Bout it. I wouldnt think an update to an existing product would make much noise at a music nerd tech show anyway, though I can appreciate your sarcasm I guess. Maybe ive dealt with too many garbage companies that give 2 shits about their customers but NI doesnt strike me as that (I mean look at the effort into this product).

I had Maschine when it was on 1.0 and I have been asking for this update.

We are generally not exhibiting at trade shows like NAMM anymore. The public beta test of Maschine 1.6 might start sometime around or shortly after this show starts, but that timing is just coincidental.

"Might" stands out in this post now and is disappointing especially when it turns into not. :( I would say NI has been very good at the updates. For some this is a big update. NI is quality all across the board. With that said I paid them they didn't pay me. I am anxious and not to proud to say it.

vp, Wow I didn't notice NI responded again about 1.6, tomorrow's Namm's last day.. Perhaps we will finally see a release then or Monday.. I hope, cuz I gotta get on the road for 6 weeks on thursday and ain't gonna have much time to produce much, but will be bringing it w/me lol

@ OP, saint joe has a ton of nice hi res pics on his site soundsandgear.com of alot of the hits..Me fav's personally would be the long awaited Tempest,Mach Five 3,Korg's new Kronos to name a few so far from what I've seen,of course some companies wait till the last day, but I think all the major releases have been shown.

NI imo doesn't have anything to worry about, they've got this thing locked..Notice Akai didn't show an MPC,they've got years of catching up and alot of code to get near NI now..
To be honest NI was quite humble, because if they wanted to they could have trumped alot of news this weekend with the release of 1.6.my opinion

Let down's we're controllers this year,I expected there to be more mixer type jointz, but haven't seen anything worthy..hopefully this changes, though euphonix did announce support for pc's a few ago..might have to grab 1

They just had a tentative release of January. Still a bit left to go. They will release it when it is ready. I'm sure a public beta is not like an official release where they try and time it to a specific day like that.

Did I read the thread wrong? I thought it was about NAMM where NI wasn't even present.

Anyway. For me the most exciting stuff @ Namm were Cubase 6 and Tempest. Also the new Virus OS version 4.5 was kind of great. They added some nice features so it's even more tempting now :D

I mainly had an eye out for the guitars and amps.. ;)
When it comes to synths and techy stuff there was Tempest, Arturia's Spark, Numark had some dj thing that looked expensive and shiny! Korg had kronos if you're into that kind of thing (i wonder if Galente will sue them for naming violation ... ^^)

http://www.bestofnamm.com/ <- have a look there, everything isnt up yet

I didnt see novation's new tool, maybe it wasnt released .. i dont know :)

    True!

I think the Korg Kronos is dope. Judging by some demos it really does sound excellent. The price is still a bit high but way cheaper than the Oasys. The MAP is $2,999 USD for the 61 note. If they bring it down to $2500.00 it will blow out the the Motif in sales. Looks like the best performance workstation keyboard to date.

I am most stoked about tempest. and the fact that teenage engineerings' OP-1 is actually real and still coming. I really like that thing for some reason ;)
those were the biggies for me. the arturia spark looks nice but it just isn't what I am lookng for. (true it parallels maschine in someways but it looks far to limited and I am not a fan of the controller layout of it) but yeah tempest easily took the attention for me. I mean a 6 voice analog DSI synth with pads and a sequence designed by roger Linn, that is something that we have not seen in a while! and it in no way copies or is a redundancy to gear I currently have. torq 2.0 was nice to see... it was looking like m-audio/avid forgot all about that segment for a while. the venom.... hmmm not sold on it at all yet. I think I would need to put my hands on it. I was really hoping the rumors were true about a behringer all analog synth... maybe at music messe?
I did see alot of flakey gear there too though that mad me shake my head.

Some of the nicer products are slightly off the mark for my particular needs but this NAMM is a breath of fresh air. The industry went on a total freeze for a while after the economy crashed. Nice to see some new worthy products to push things forward.

The Alesis QX49 looks nice. The fact that they didn't make a 61 key version pisses me off.
