went cheap buying a pedal and it actually makes backround noise in my DAW when it goes up and down during recording !! I've read a lot of users having issues finging the right pedal, anyone have any suggestions, I'm in Hawaii and Amazon is unfortunately where I have to get supplies.....

Sustain or expression? And what kind of "noise" do you get because there should be no connection between the pedal input and the audio output so technically it should not be able to create noise unless it is either a noise from your software instrument designed to emulate pedal noises or some strange grounding issue somewhere causing digital interference noises which will not be fixed with another pedal probably.

A sustain pedal should not create noise. Sustain pedals are very simple things. They are literally just a simple switch on a wire and are either on or off.

Expression are a bit trickier because they have adjustable range via a potentiometer which can differ between models and different values work for different gear and there can be some compatible issues.

I have 3 sustain/foot switches all no-name brands that cost like $10 from ebay, all work just fine

yep I hear ya, I've had a ton of boards and pedals over the years and never had this issue. It is a on off sustain, when I use it it is lighting up the track audio input signal and I can hear it through the speakers and it is being recorded also using either the # 1 or # 2 pedal input on the Mk 2

That is strange. Is the jack a TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) 3 contact jack or just a TS (Tip-Sleeve) 2 pole? Also, do you have a power adapter connected to the keyboard? Maybe if you do, try without it (I think you can use it without a power adapter) or try unplug all your power connections, make sure they are all connected to the same power strip and reconnect. May be a ground issue or it's somehow picking up some electrical noise that is going through the ground lines. If you are not recording audio inputs, make sure they are disabled or muted also on your audio interface.

The Fatar VFP1/25 works well in combination with my KK A61. Sorry, I don't know it's availability in Hawaii.

I use a Roland DP-10 and I am very happy with it. It is a nice solid design so does not move around too much. The best feature though is it supports half-pedalling, so if you plan to use NI piano libraries that support this feature then you might want to consider this pedal. Cheaper ones are just simple on/off stitches.

Here is a list of sustain pedals that we tested and are sure to work with our keyboards :

    Hi,
I can confirm Roland DP-10 works fine as a half-pedaling device (and also in on/off mode). I did struggle a bit because I did not notice the MIDI number it was sending was set incorrectly in Kontrol. Below is my setting. Also you need to enable halfpedal in the instrument of course.
