The MK3 integration is very similar to what is shown in the video. The Live Template is still pretty weak imo but the integration is pretty handy, especially the mixer view.

Thanks. I had to search deep for MK3 starting guide to find any info about that, and couldn't see any video about Live integration.

Using 4D encoder for navigation is the most interesting feature to me, but that's it... What else can you do with Machine outisde Machine software? There are some videos about routing 16 track in and out of Maschine in Live... but that's ridiculous, not any resonable workflow.

Look for the Maschine MK3 Legacy Template. It mimics most things from the MK2 and Studio templates, but certain features are missing and/or are not intuitive to use at all. Like Note repeat, for instance; It works but there is currently no way to set your own intervals.many of the buttons don't have any function either, which is a bummer. I love using Maschine standalone but sometimes I want to use the hardware as a bad ass midi controller, but NI doesn't seem to be interested in that this time around. If I had the (working) abilities the Studio had if be more than happy.

Thanks. At least now I know what could work but doesn't :p

    How about these MK3 features:
    - Plugin / sound browser
    - Chord pads for 3rd-party VST
    - Strumming pads
    - State record / fading
    - File management
    - Anything else?...

Pretty much all of that still has to be done in the Maschine software still. The template has very basic functionality for Live. The KK can do all that from what I can tell but sadly the Maschine MK3 can't.

Those aren't MK3 features, they are Maschine Software features, none of it works outside of it (MIDI Mode or Advanced integration).

More than a year later the CE script/template for the MK3 is now available, update Controller Editor to 2.3.2 and do the usual setup steps.

It's called "Maschine_Mk3_Legacy", I tried it and it seems a bit buggy, the pages don't seem to have names on the buttons and whatnot... It mostly works though.

Can you guys report on your results using this?

I've used it pretty extensively over the past 2 months and it's alright. Still not as featured as the studio template, but it's decent and definitely useable. I hope the note repeat has been fixed with this new CE update though; it's so annoying not being able to control the intervals .

Wait... So this legacy mk3 script has been available for 2 months now? I only saw this after the 2.3.2 CE update...

So basically... Something that was this massively missed and requested when the mk3 was released was actually implemented without any sort of announcement? WTH...

Pretty much yeah. I discovered it when trying to set up the MK3 Host Integration. When on the set up page it states, "if you're looking for the MK3 Legacy Template, use these instructions instead" (paraphrased). It's basic but you can do most of the necessary things like scene/pattern selection, setting scales and root note, tap tempo, etc. This is the first time it's had any kind of documentation though. NI seems really out of sorts when it comes to the MK3.

So I actually want to clarify that, at the time I'm writing this, there is still no documentation on the MK3 Legacy template. And nothing has been changed from when I started using it.

Interesting news! But now I'd rather wait for some show-and-tell video or review before buying this stray product.

No hurry, this won't be until summer sale.

What do you mean? The unit has been out for a year, there are plenty of full reviews out there.

I mean this new template. I won't buy a thing based on a second-hand info that "somewhere on the Internet there's unsupported config that probably does what I expect", or maybe not at all.

Ohh... Just check for videos about the Maschine Studio Ableton 9 Template, this is basically the same thing but with some caveats (like labels for all buttons). I doubt someone is gonna make a review about something that is now considered "legacy".

Not so D-One...the Studio and the Mk2 templates offer way more control detail than the current MK3 templates. So no, these videos do not apply.
For instance I can control the transport in Live's arrangement with my Studio or MK2.
I can adjust loop and cllip start/end. I have control over clip transpose, gain and quantization settings and more.
Where can I find these functions in the MK3 template?

Hummm... Gave this a second look and you're correct, transport and a few other things work fine for me but the lack of all the "Pages" means a ton of stuff that can be done in the Studio/Mk2/Mk1 cant be done on the MK3... It looks like the legacy MK3 template is still unfinished, I am not sure if it will ever be.

I tried adding the Pages and manually setting the same values, didn't work.

Yea, sadly I think you might be right... and indeed who knows if it ever will be done. Thanks for your feedback and please keep me posted;)
