I've encountered this problem using GR3:

Playing in real time in the actual GR application, I've achieved the best sound I could ever hope for (i mean distortion). However, when I'm trying to record something using this preset (either in GR Tapedeck or in Adobe Audition 3 as a VST plug-in), the sound becomes different than when I'm hearing it "live". It gets kind of inaccurate, dirty and indistinct. If you know what is wrong and if I can fix it please tell me. And I wonder why are there two tapedecks instead of one.
    Thanks !

When you play GR3 live, you are adding the contours of the amp, cab, speakers and room. All of these components are missing when you use the VST.

EQ and compression are frequently "used" to correct or enhance the sound of the guitar. There are guidelines but no hard and fast rule. The best way is to experiment until you discover the sound you were looking for. GR3 is fantastic in this regard!

Each of the two decks are each optimized for slightly different functions. Deck 1 is more for "jam along" with loops and tracks. I also has capability to trim the loops in and out points, varispeed and varipitch. Deck 2 is optimized for capturing your performance post FX. Deck 2 also has powerful overdub capability so you can build up a composite one-man-band performance.

I had this same issue and realized I was putting it in the loop rather than on the actual track. I however am using sonar 8. Others have said this could be related to matched sample rates. For example if you are recording at 44,100 make sure it is set for this sample rate in guitar rig. This will be under the options/setting tab. Also make sure when you put the vst it's on the actual track. I'm not real sure how it works in audition. Hope this helps!
