yeah that would be pretty significant news if NI thought you should only have one controller connected. It's true that multiple tsis slow things down, but they still work well together if properly configured. I try to delete tsis I'm not using at any given time - it's a pain but it saves time loading preferences.

Well, let me actually quote what was said and you tell me if he isn't just trying to tell me what I am trying to do with the Maschine is ridiculous.

And after I showed him, there are people out there connecting 5 controllers up to their computer (with pictures of setups), he changed his toon and gave it to the devs (supposedly).

I'm fairly new to Traktor but yet to see any noticeable delay with the preferences window.

I'm trying to keep up with these threads as to hopefully stay ahead of the game, so to speak...

Mine has always been pretty snappy, almost instant, I have a shitton of midi commands as well.

The delays start, when you have several device mappings. If you have only one or two mappings imported, you probably won't notice any delay of the pref window opening or or a delay when changing between devices to work on them in the Controller Manager.

Jea same here, experimenting a lot with with different controller setups and I narrowed it down to the amount of controller/midi setups.

Opening the prefs is such a CPU hog too. Don't dare to open the prefs live... Just don't ;)

Hehe, dejavu. Tracked that down too last week. Try to export your complete config, run the wizard, cancel. Flushes the conf. Now import without controllers, wohoo snappy as hell.

I could speed it up a little bit by exporting the controller settings for each and every one, and importing a previously restored config that I restored without the controller settings. And then import each controller again using the controller dialog.

I've definitely been having this problem for a while. I have a lot of devices separated out into different MIDI mappings, that's what seems to cause it. Basically I wanted to separate out the different aspects of my APC mapping (effects, output, etc) just to keep things clear in my head. Unfortunately this had the side effect of drastically slowing the time it took to open the preferences dialogue, which is super annoying.

Can you explain this a little bit, it's a tad unclear. Are you saying you found a workaround for this issue?

Yes, I'd also like to hear a bit more elaboration on this fix.:) (don't know how I missed the post either, otherwise I would have asked much earlier.;))

I hope the mapping page gets a lot of attention for the next update. Ive had a lot of trouble with it mis saving maps, they work fine when first imported, restart tractor and a ton of settings have changed. The menu for mapping is horrible. I hope it gets a good fix

It won't, because NI obviously doesn't think this is where their business growth lies. The fact the controllerist market is growing and "mapping" is an integral part of that market seems to have defied NI's grasp of reality of this market and the fact the Mix Decks won't be controllable over midi is a perfect example.

    Hi,

can do, and no workaround, just a slight improvement:

I meant that I narrowed it down to the specific setting (Devices count). Exporting all settings and let the devices out, preferences opened in a blink of an eye. And second I found out that if you re-import the settings one-by-one again it's a bit snappier, but just a bit.

So what I did (I do have 9 device settings, some productive, some for debugging purposes) is:

    1. Export complete settings (backup)
    2. Export complete settings, but uncheck device settings (Keyboard + Controller Mappings)
    3. Export each and every controller setting separately
    4. Clear settings -> either delete Traktor Settings.tsi or rename (then you save step 1) or enter the setup wizard and 'pretend' to setup a new Traktor profile
    5. Import backed up setting w/o the device settings
    6. (check how fast it opens now, you won't believe your eyes :p )
    7. Import each controller setting again, and watch it slow down... :(
    8. But overall it should be a wee bit faster than before, but still cpu hogging thug

I dont' know if their base64 decoding implementation is really that slow :)

Another observation is that if you change the device in the devices dialog 'tab' then you have the same waiting period. Don't know if its the UI component which is stalling or before. Please guys, attach your profilers...

Hint for the devs: One quick and dirty workaround would be to interpret/read the device configs only if you change to the tab or are going to export of course, and otherwise do not load it in the meanwhile if you are just changing other settings.

    And yes its a PITA...

Late to the party but thanks to the commenters for helping me find the cause of this weird and very annoying problem.

It's 2014 and TP 2.6 now and still the same issue! After i had just upgraded to a new mbp with fast cpu and 8gb ram if couldn't believe opening preferences still took so long. But yeah - the amount of mappings is definitely the problem. I've trimmed it down to 4 or 5 now and it opens almost in a snap, way faster than before.

NI - dropping the ball here. This is either a bug that should be fixed or coding that needs to be greatly improved.

No f*cking way, shouldn't really be their business what you do with your controllers 0o

However, need to dig this out again, any updates for you? For me it's still as slow as it was on the first day. I somehow got used to hit but recently I described this behavior in another post and I was curious if people still experience the lags here.

'13 mba, 4 controllers but it starts getting slow even with 2 mappings already

I just had to play a gig with a Pioneer DDJ-SX2, and the official Traktor Mapping comes split into 14 separate mappings. I noticed before slowdown when opening Preferences, but this made Traktor unusable for about a minute each time I opened or closed the preferences window, or switched the Controller Manager to show a different mapping.

Oh yes, that was one of the controllers I also tried. They should've gone with a client application that processes all the data

This issue still happens, and it is definitely because of the device mappings. Remove some if you have too much and the lag is way smaller, however NI should still fix this.

My preferences is the same - I use a DDJ-SZ and the mapping is huge. Takes yonks to open
