    Greetings all,

I dont want to come guns blazing here but, seriously is there any sign in the near future that R4 will actually work properly? I mean even with the latest update I am still unable to actually save tweaks to patches made in VST mode (my host is Nuendo 2.01).

Each time I close a song and re-open it, it defaults like it used, to, what is annoying the hell out of me about this, is that this is a R4 is and was not present in R3, whats even more annoying is the reset on stop, no matter you do you have to uncheck all these deafualt settings to do this or assign blank patch names in the sequencer host, annoying =/

I have yet to even bother to try to append a patch since the latest update because I am sure you can't do that either yet, you have to admit its kind of absurd at this point, has NI even made a comment in a while about fixing these items? I mean really, these are items of great importance, nothing like having to close your whole system down to open R4 in standalon to make tweak changes to patches.

When is NI going to come through on our purchases and make things right.. this is getting way old at this point, I dont even read these forums any more since its same ole stuff, nothing changes..

I just want to add that as a customer who has supported NI and purchased:

    - Reaktor 3
    - Reaktor 4
    - Kontakt
    - Battery
    - Pro 53

And is soon to purchase Absynth 2, its getting a little hard to keep finding reason to shell out cash for unfinished products... on a side note, this is not even my user name lol, there forums exploded one day and all of a sudden changed my info to this, I am not gonna bother changing it back, but jeez lol...

    Cheers!

i think that someone should organise a comprehensive poll of all the features users could ask from reaktor, from standard to advanced, so that users can all vote on what reaktor would be more popular for.

this could then be submitted to N.I.

a first thread could ask each person for 3 favoured features for next versions.

i.e. windowing commands, useable midi output, reordering of macro inputs, required modules, etc etc...

i know that 3 saved all settings to sx, i haven'tr tried with r4 yet though, doesnt it work on pc sith sx?

would the poll be a good idea anyone?

I'll probably run a poll in the future when work begins on R5.

    exactly..back to the old phrase..
"don't run before you can't even walk"
Seems to be the NI scam..They never want to make a solid ,usuable, great version..They want to make you believe the next version you will pay for is the one..Seems by history, it is not the case..

    lets see what happens, claudek;-)

R2.3.3 was a really good version and a good example where NI
sorted the serious bugs before going onto R3.

remember there was going to be a R3.5 but it was stopped so they could work on R4.

now......if NI start working on R5 BEFORE R4 is finished......
then we really know they are taking the p**s.

    but until that happens.........

When R5 comes out will it actually be a bug-free R3?

c´mon guys, we ought to pity them: to me it looks like they are going broke. upsetting your customerBASE is something you don´t do if you can avoid it. making people pay for an update (at least if they want the manual) that does not work 100% (is not finished) foreseeably does precisely this and in my opinion can only have one reason: generating revenue ASAP .it also shows that there is not enough staff to fix reaktor in a reasonable amount off time (hey, the gap between the last R3 version and 4 was long enough to write a completely new application); we´re not talking about rocket science here, it´s programming. the staff missing to fix reaktor is working on new products (the spinoffs) to create revenue to keep the company alive and there is no money to hire more people.

i´m not angry at NI for their tempo of fixing problems, i´m just worried that there may never be a fully working version. piracy IS a major problem, for people who do music as well as for the companies that provide the tools for this.
less revenue for producers->less money spent on gear/software(less units bought)->software company can a) increase the price per unit (not acceptable for typical software-heads) or b) sell more different products at a lower price. products need to be developed, so if you have a fixed amount of employees (because you are selling more but CHEAPER products) you´ll end up with less manpower per product when you increase the amount of products.

and this is IMO the reason why R4 is not fully functional and why it is very likely that development of R5 will be started INDEPENDENT of the fact wether R4 is fixed or not. because the $$ need to keep rolling.

    nuff blah blah now....;-)

I think NI was caught in a difficult set of circumstances. I wonder if they felt they needed to scrap R3.5 in favor of R4 because of the changes at apple with OSX emerging as the wave of the future. Instead of making a bug free R3.5 they had to scramble as best they could to put out Reaktor for OSX/AU, and OS 9.x, and PC folks, as fast as they could. Now NI has discovered that there are still issues unique to certian DAW's (DP4 for example) out there and they're still doing all they can to keep everyone happy and productive. Add in the flat economy and you get a formula for trouble.

I had a conversation recently with the president of a well known sample library company and I was told that Akai closed all it's offices in North America, that all of the hardware synth companies were having serious cashflow problems - the picture painted for me was one of seroius concern for the entire MI industry. But when you look around it's happening to almost every industry - except maybe the defense industry - hmmm, not surprising.

All I know is that in spite of all the problems I've had with NI (and happily resolved BTW) I feel a vested interest in seeing them survive and prosper for all our sakes. Hang in there.

    why

are there more people interested in payin for weapons and war than for good (music)software? piracy software terrorism? for only $500 you get more than 1000 synthies, effects etc. youll not get a single hardware synth for that. and if you can get one - it can do some maybe 1000 different sounds, will not work 100% (and its hard to synchonize with cubase, get sounds saved...) so i think: thanks ni for givin me a great tool i can do everything i want to, doesnt matter where i am (studio or laptop) and for every problem theres always a workaround (ok im on pc and not a professional). so be happy! (knight of nie? is that something with monthy phytons?)

The whole point of my rant is the following,

I own Reaktor 3 which for the most part worked rather well, then I paid for R4 and some of the basic fundamental things that WORKED like a charm in R3 are broken and not working in R4, now here we are many many months into the R4 series and a few updates later and these very basic issues still do not work, wtf?

    - Unable to save ensamble in (sequencer session EG: Cubase, Nuendo, Logic etc.)
    - Unable to append patch in VSTi mode, only works in stand alone.
    - Reset to default on stop, this is EXTREMELY annoying
    - Having to use cheesy work around such as usuing blank patch names to counter reset to default patch #1

These are my only major gripes atm, fix these and I will happlily return to lurking in the shadows, but this stuff worked in R3 and has been broken in R4 since its 1st release. come on NI, if you break something atleast own up and fix it, dont make us wait and suffer because you guys broke it.

And on a side note what is really pissing me off now with NI is their stupid Challenge and Response security system, in the past few weeks I changed my Mobo and reinstalled, added R4 and then swapped out to a different sound card and reformatter my HD again, reinstalled R4 once again, now I changed my configuration again as I added a whole mess of DSP and upgraded to XP pro so once again I re-installed, well this time it wouldnt let me, so I placed a call to tech support and the guy there who helped me basically gave me a S**t attitude and said you only get 2 registered installs for R4, so wtf does that mean? after I install R4 twice I am not leagally allowed to again per licence? did I not pay for this software in full yet I am subjected to have to ask NI if I can run my PAID software with there blessing.

We better hope NI doesnt go under or we wont be able to run our software we paid for, each day I find it harder and harder to find reason to support this company.
